I forgot post that yesterday....

The new vga cooler comes from Artic Cooling and it names Accelero Xtreme. It has 5 heatpipes, 3x 80mm fans and it weight 610g. It is very easy to install and it supports only ati 2900xt/pro and 8800 ultra/gtx/gts for now...

The new Arctic-Cooling Accelero Xtreme 2900 is quite possibly the best all round VGA cooler we have ever seen. In fact the only real potential problem we see with this new product is its size, though given the performance we could easily live with that. Unlike the standard reference cooler the Accelero Xtreme 2900 takes up three expansion slots rather than two. However, because nearly all good Crossfire motherboards place two slots between the PCI Express x16 ports, this will not be an issue for those wanting to use the Accelero Xtreme 2900 on a Crossfire platform.

Why 80mm!? And why do I have to use their fans? Throw on two 92mm or 120mm pushing over 100cfm then we'll talk.

Whoa! This is perfect for my very small HTPC build! Finally a decent amount of heatpipes in a cooler that doesn't sit a half-mile outside of the card, it sits within the boundaries of the card...absolutely beautiful!

My chassis is so narrow that I can close the side if the cooler that faces the MB and open up a grill in the chassis door and let the heat out, it will be a small space of 5mm only between fins an door.

If your going triple slot why not make a triple slot blower design?

Even better a two slot blower with all copper fins and the heatpipe layer the new single slot sapphire toxic cards use.

I doubt it, because the regular accelero cools the 38x0s fine, there's no need for this much capacity for the rv670 gpu, I doubt it even at 1ghz+ core

It is already quite heavy as is.

I think they should've used smaller fins with thinner fans (like 70×15mm) and it
could've been kept at 2-slots height.

Wth was up with that guru3d test? Leaving the stock thermal crap up, not
cleaning the chip? That's a very big mistake, especially for a hardware review
site!

If it is priced the way the S1 is, I think it's a winner. Simply put there is not a better cooler for the money, picked mine up for 25 bucks shipped.

size matters though, it's easier to fit 3 80mm fans than 2 120mm or 140mm fans even if they are quieter and offer more airflow, you may run into space issues with those huge fans

Only thing that I don't get is why is the extreme actually two hs connected by heatpipes? I can't see what the point of the smaller portion is unless that radiates out the heat which the heatpipes conduct from the core which would make sense for space reasons

the vreg hs is exactly where the gap is between the two main heatsinks, i bet they coudnt make a one size fits both (nvidia and ati) due to height / size / mounting difference in vreg area and thats why they went for that design instead of one big heatsink.

Coming from the core, 3 pipes end in the bigger hs, 2 in the smaller.
This way, you also have the third fan blowing at the vreg area, which also
needs cooling. The hole is there for the separate heatsinks of the vreg area -
see the pic on the first page of legion's review.

Madshrimps are the only ones who have tested those on NVIDIA videocards, click
