Where's my Phenom BE?!

So far from everybody that I have seen on this forum that has thrown $280-$290.00 at one of these Phenom 9600 BE it has been a complete bust and the 9500 seem so far to be the better chip More Bull Sh**t lies from AMD with this shell game they are playing?

I'm a bit apprehensive to put too much juice to it, so I'm starting with 1.4v atm. I'm stress testing the 12X multiplier atm. What multipliers are other guys using? I'm looking for a stable everyday OC, not some ungodly one time OC.

To be perfectly real about all of this , I would say the only thing Phenom is good for atm is a stock set up and just too much bull sh**t to get 2-300 mhz for all that aggravation is absolutely pointless and if the processors are not up to the task what makes you guys think these first generation boards are???/ Think about it guys!

It sounds like you're frustrated, you shouldn't knock others trying though. Stressing the 12.5X multiplier now. 12X was no issue for an hour of stress. Temps at ~40C.

I'm not frustrated and I am a big AMD fan but lets be real with this nonsense already. Sorry not trying to be a kill joy but this is my observation from what I see nothing more! You notice I am not sporting Intel with that statement right?

Keep NB multi and HT multi low for starters.

Brother, brother, the guy I got it off paid $215 for it in batch with discounts (EU price which is usually 30% more), so t'was pretty cheap. -$105 from the Q6600 price.

Hey they are a great deal the 9500 can be had at New Egg for $185.00 which is huge for the price you are getting them but all I am saying is that the BE seems to be bogus hype so far

Sorry, but this is a really crap stepping, but most of the current 9600BE have it.

I have the same stepping Terwin, a couple weeks earlier though,
And Mine is NOT a BE....


I bought it on the weekend before New Years, so I've really only had it for a little over a week... I'm sure there are better steppings, but I certainly wouldn't call it a crap! NB at 1953, with low voltage isn't really all that bad!!
(PhotoBucket is on maintenance.... )... So, I'll ramble for a few minutes... I had it at 2.53Ghz (220x11.5) and everything seemed stable. I even played F.E.A.R. for a couple hours with no problems, but then I left it to FOLD overnight a couple days ago, and it crashed overnight....

I lowered it to 217x11.5 (2.496) and it's been rock solid for the last few days, even with the high NB speed, SMP Folding on all 4 cores, and I've never seen it go over 38c!!

My advice would be go easy on the V's for the first few days, bump them up slowly... I raised my CPU V's all the way up to 1.43 to try and make HT/220 stable and it still didn't help! I lowered it back to 1.275 dropped it to 217 and it's been good for days... I was going to send you a screeny of my settings to try and help as a baseline, but PhotoBucket is still down...

Depends. If you expect incredulous things then you won't be satisfied with BE since it only offers the best of B2 Phenom oc, and thats not as good as the X2 at all, more than 500MHz lower tops. You have to be realistic.

But still, some have gotten 2.8GHz-3.2GHz stable, so who knows. Naturally if you're aware how Phenom oc works, then you'd take the BE over 9600/9700/9900 just over its unlocked FID, VID, NB, HT and volts.

Some stores in the UK have had them in stock for over a 12 days. Misco/Extremepcs had some, but Misco's sold out very early and they never updated the online details.

MPMW used to be one of the best Toledo codings IIRC.

I'm still playing with mine too Terwin... But I hope this helps you get a stable point to fall back too... This is my #1 load bios spot, when I just wanna make sure things work! YMMV.... (YourMileageMayVary)

If your bios allows setting p-states, set CPU Vid to 24, It sets your CPU Vid to 1.25v's... Still well within specs, and that really helped my stability!!!!

I'd be really curious to see how high you could get those cores though... You know you could test them individually, and turn the Multi down on the weak one(s)... Evil Grin!!

I read at the inquirer tonight that AMD's own staffers said at CES that B3 steppings are STILL JACKED! So, they said they will be doing another spin with products due may 08. Sorry everyone but it is going to be a long spring with some half baked parts. Intel could cury the hatchet deep if they wanted but instead they are falling back ino their norm and easing up on the release schedule this year. Mighty nice of them ;-)

Yorkfield is being delayed because they've got their own issues. Not because they're being nice to AMD.

True, but if you look at the entire year, what Intel just released is showing as "thats it" for 08'. Any other new products or faster speed bins will be reactionary to anything AMD is able to fire back with.

AOD is useless on the ASUS board. You can't change anything without lockups. It's only good for the stress test. I have to do everything else in bios.

Hmm..... In the article I read, the author called AMD and they stated publically that B3 has the bug FIXED (they actually tested the fix on the earlier B2 steppings), and that B3 would be the last 65nm stepping before moving onto 45 nm. However, B3 will probably not be available until the beginning of second quarter (April timeframe)...

If it looks like they will have 45nm out in quantity by mid-year, I think I will just wait for it. Irregardless, I will wait until end March/early April, since by then we will have a better selection of motherboards, and bioses
