    Patriot PDC24G6400LLK 4gb(2x2gb) input anyone?

    http://shop4.outpost.com/product/5447899

    ^$99.99 seemed to good to pass up for 2x2gb 800Mhz CL4 memory .

    I just read the review over at PCstats.

    To reach 900 MHz the memory voltage was increased to 2.1V, and thereafter required 2.2V to crack the 1000MHz barrier. A few minutes later we settled on a top speed of 1066MHz with low CAS latency timings of 4-4-4-12. Nice!
    1066Mhz with 4-4-4-12 timings sounds incredible, and the way that reads it seems they did it on 2.2 vDIMM... I was curious if anyone[here] could confirm similar OCability and performance? I have a pair incoming, however my mobo is on RMA so I have no clue when I'll be able to test these puppies out .

    I was checking this out all excited to pull the trigger and saw this at the bottom..

    • Not supported on mainboards based on Intel i965 chipsets.
    Why would that be? Just seems odd unless 965 has some limitation I'm unaware of. Voltage requirements maybe?

    I am interested too. I have a 4Gb set of the G.Skill PC8000 stuff on order but that won't ship until after New Year. I'm interested to see what chips this stuff uses and whether it will clock higher...

    Well.. It isn't so good

    My 6400LLK 4G KIT isn't stable with stock 800MHz 4-4-4-12 at 2.4V, of course at 2.2V.

    Also it can't reach 1000MHz 5-5-5-15.

    Dammit, I'm soo bummed now ...

    I noticed you have the exact same mobo I've been eyeing too, the DFI t2r lt x38. It seems really weird that the boot strap was unstable between 334-400mhz, are the subtimings you're running too tight maybe? Are you stable @ stock clock/timings and volts with the memory? If so, have you tried any kind of overclock at all?

    Thanks for the updates . Though now I'm even less certain what mobo I will be purchasing and what kind of memory OC I can expect from these kits.

    More results welcome, perhaps some 680i and p35 chipset runs?

    im at were i am in my sig for everything at the moment im taking the ram back to frys with the stock speed with 333/800 multi worked at cas4 but nothing cas5 would run

    i also messed with some of the sub timings and other settings and it wouldent go faster, here is the everest bench

    it gets an ok score for 802mhz c4 but i want to get some better ram im thinking of viper or gskill but i dont want the gskill since every1 has it

    That's because the Broadwater chipset doesn't officially support 1Gbit chips. (NOT 1GByte, but 1Gbit ). Normal 1GB Chips with 16 chips use 512Mbit chips. These are no problem on Broadwater. But as soon as you use 1GB single sided sticks, or 2GB double sided sticks, the chips are 1Gbit. And that's where the problems start supposedly. Can't tell you for sure what's happening then, but read about the lack of 1Gbit support a few days ago.

    Edit: Here's a link.

    Seems as if it only applies to DDR2-800+ speeds.

    I just picked up some of this RAM over the weekend from newegg.com. My results so far:

    (First off, I too read the PCSTATS review of this RAM too, but my performance has been nowhere near theirs, as it appears you guys have also discovered).

    Mobo: Asus Maximus Formula x38 (0907 BIOS)
    cpu: q6600 G0

    Summary:
    - ddr2-800 4-4-4-12 @ 2.0 - 2.4v == Will not boot.
    - ddr2-800 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2v == will boot ok (in this mode right now)

    I'm actually VERY disappointed that this RAM cannot even do the advertised timings of 800mhz@4-4-4-12.

    However, I may just stick with 800mhz@5-5-5-15. I'm not sure how much higher than 800 it can go @ 5-5-5-15, as I haven't tried anything higher yet, but I don't have high hopes.

    My goal is a 3.6 (400x9) OC on this q6600 anyway, so I should be able to get there (I'm at 400x6 right now, to test this crap RAM). I guess I'll just have to do it at CAS5 instead of 4.

    Ok, so for the hell of it, I'm returning these Patriots for a refund and ordering these instead. They're cheaper than the Patriots, and can't (I hope) possibly perform worse, so I figure I'll give them a shot since I'll actually save a couple $ on the refund.
