    @George.........are you having any issues with you're QX9650 on the D.F.I X38?

    JimmyZ seems to be having issues with his when changing Bios settings and the only way he can get it to boot without a 88 error code is by putting in his E6600 booting then removing it and installing the QX9650

    2 x FDD in PCI-e X38

    Well Praz where can I get one of those and what are there function in the DFI X38? EDIT: I got them on eBay...

    Mine is running 2 x ATI HD3870 in Crossfire with them disconnected till I find the connector (all online stores only sell them as 4pin Molex to only 1 FDD).

    Thanks!

    Can use the same points I posted for the P35. CPU GTL components and traces have been rerouted but the MOSFETs are on the same area of the board.

    i had issues with my qx9650 on this DFi board with vista...XP was fine!...i'm waiting for a new 9650 (a week wait)...my original cpu had a locked DTS core #0 temp...it actually would go up only after overclocking and running wprime 1024M bench...at stock speed, it never budged.

    so...it is either a crappy bios with vista for the 9650 or it was a defective 9650...i will know in a week...i currently have my Q6600 in and it's working very nicely both in XP and vista overclocking at 3960 mhz...vista even installed at that frequency...couldn't even come close to doing that with vista and the 9650.

    This has always been my thought concerning boards that provide this option. Providing multiple voltage supply points will never hurt stability and is actually easier on the traces so why not use them. The one possible exception to this is power supply rail mismatch.

    haven't tried my QX9650 on this board yet... so not sure.. IIRC there was a beta bios for DFI X38 for QX9770 only allowed 400FSB Strap and 1:1 to work.. other dividers didn't work... so has he tried sticking to only 1:1 divider for QX9650 ?

    Ah found those points seem all points won't allow using a test probe clip for hands free DMM measurement though ?

    Looks like my second board is dead now too. Worked fine last night, but then shut down abruptly. I booted into the BIOS and the PWM temp was reading 86C I rebooted to make sure it wasn't a sensor glitch but it stayed the same. So I shut it down and went to bed. Came back to it this morning and it won't post. Just shows a couple lines on the error LEDs just like the last board. I think I'm giving up on this board and going with an Asus. For me these X38-T2Rs have voltage issues that keep killing the boards.

    Hands free can be a little tricky. This is the setup I use. It's a Quick Probe SMD testing device made by AG Devices. With 3 or 4 of them and a multi-channel scope can go through the measurements pretty quick once setup is done.

    I tried everything. three bios's, swapped boards and chips so many times I lost count. 9650 will work for 1 boot then 88 code, or no l.e.d., tried the new beta for the 9770 even. so far in 96 hours of owning this board I have only had the yorkfield running for about five hours.never even got a boot on the p-35. very dissapointing.

    despite my love of dfi I am buying a board that will support my processor. I plan to hold on to this board (I already insulated it for phase ). if dfi does not come through with a stable bios by ther end of january I will not buy any more dfi products.

    clearly they know about the problems, they have not addressed them and continue to advertise that it is compatible, which it is not.

    all the performance in the world is worthless if it will not boot....
