yes, unles it goes to tray. make sure u chose performancd 3d as ur profile, cuz if u didnt all u did was oc ur 2d clocks. when u enter a game it will go back to stock. if u want and u got some decent gain u can save the profile so that it will be there when u restart ur comp.

Source engine relies HEAVILY upon the CPU. That Pentium 4 is killing you.

For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

set quickly and press apply. the settings u want to reach arent that high. 1300 shader, then to 1400 shader then finally 1500 shader. same with ur mem. i looked at what u were talking about before. who acctually uses the "test" button?

Ok when to move the shader clock I have to move the core clock at the same time is that ok? Also how will I tell if I should stop I put it up a little bit the temp hasn't raised at all.

CPU is holding you back the most.

100mhz increases are quite large. Use smaller ones to test stability.

    edit

    Yes, looks fine so far.

You can use the floppy-disk icon to save your settings and there should be an option to set your settings to load on startup and apply during 3D load.

you shouldnt increase the core any more. the actual max of ur core is aprox 680 uner proper "thermalright" cooling. if when u move the shader, the core moves up too, drop the core to 500. then when u increase ur shader, if the core increases you will stick to 600 core.

u knoe when to stop when you see the temp increase by a sharp amount. from what i'm hearing from you, u'll be able to get to those clocks without a problem.

I have the core at 600 and the shader went to 1290 when I brought the core to 600. So should I just move mem up then run game?

Also I don't know if the temperature is broken but it hasn't moved from 47C just sits there while I was adjusting.

dude i'm just surprised that u got to 697 without crashing. if u want u can take it back up and run TF2, go ahead. if ur card heats up and your system crashes, dont worry. its just the driver failing and it will recover. just dont forget about the mem, take it up too; 697,1498,700. run TF2 for 2 min and minimize to check your temps

publish with GPU-Z. it will go online for ppl to see. id say u did an awsome job homie. dont be shy to play around with the clocks. 1400 shader would be good for gaming, and 720 for mem. try it out.

Sweet so if I save these OC settings every time I boot up I can start up Riva and turn those settings on and run it and it won't do damage i'll be fine just watch the temps? Also I can't really move shaders up anymore because the core clock will go up with shader I can't move shader individually.

Why do you keep suggesting those clocks, Monkeywoman? And temperatures will rise with clocks quite linearly. No large jumps will happen unless he applies more voltage which will likely require harware modifications to be done anyways.

    http://www.hwbot.org/quickSearch.do?...+%28165%29

Scroll to near the bottom there. Most people see to get 700-800mhz on the core, 1500-1800 shader and 725-825 on the memory.

750/1600/800 is probably a good number to aim for. Anything over that is great.

If you run "RTHDRIBL" while overclocking the core, shader, and memory it may help find the maximum where you are stable at.

    http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/

    Direct link for download: http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archi...hdribl_1_2.zip

Dont worry about temperatures unless you get over about 70c. I doubt you'll get that high.

    EDIT

You can use GPU-Z to verify if your settings are being held after minimizing or closing Rivatuner or after loading windows and Rivatuner

There is a menu button you need to click that will set defaults,, If you want to run it stock after playing around..

Note : You must click ((Apply at Windows start up)) after ((Saving the Overclocks))if you wish to make Stay Overclocked all the time.

I Also recomemd setting the Fan to High 100%in LowLevel Its not loud and will bring your temps way lower....You Should also Do the Fan setting next to the OVERCLOCKING Tab TOO...Make shure you click APPLY and Check the Load at Windows start up Box..This will run fan all the time even if Rivatuner is closed

    Have fun !gOtVolTage!

the reason is first i'm an ATI GUY, i dont know how to overclock geforces so would expect it to be somewhat the same as a radeon(i.e. temp spikes) i wanted him to reach those clocks because of this review http://en.hardspell.com/doc/showcont...52&pageid=2060 . it shows how a shader oc on the 8500GT would yeild 40 percent increase in performance. i was surprised to see him get to 695 bcaeuse in the review their max oc was 680. if he can go higher then by allmeans do it. i'm just trying to give him the most economical way to play his game-its obvious its his cpu.
