Hey guys, just got this board and installed it, and i have a quick question for ya. Is there a known CPU temp bug with this board? Im running a Q6600 G0 on it, high end watercooled. The CPU temp in bios is reading 17 degrees! That has got to be wrong. LOL! Running the latest official bios. Core temp seems to read each of the cores about right though - around 32 degrees on each core.

Nothing major, just irritating thats all.

All the DFI boards I have had since the Expert have measured temps wrong. I guess I have just gotten used to it.

Hey Mike, havn't heard from you in a while! I had the same issue with mine, just go into the BIOS under the "PC Health Status" and change the temp reading option to "+10". At least on my system that gets the board reading somewhat accurate temps (you may want to adjust differently according to your setup). How is that new setup of your treating you by the way?

Well if it was possible UberMario it would take some major modding because the 2nd and 3rd PCI-e slots simply don't have the electrical connections available, they just are not there. Take a look at your top PCI-e slot, then compare it to the other two and you'll soon see the problem! It would be great but I don't think its going to happen anytime soon!

Yes, i know it, that's why i heard about an additionnal pcb required to accomplish this
I know that in the logic, can't be possible to do real 16x/16x on p35 since the 2nd pci-e is wired on 4x, but it seems that anybody found how to fix it, don't know how, but he does :/

I thinked that i should receive more answers about it in this thread, but i believe that i misled :/

Hey Roger, thanks for that. I have had similar problems with previous DFI boards, although the 680i LT was ok. Rather irritating. At least core temp seems to be ok - i guess they are the most important temps at the end of the day anyway

My whole new rig will be here Wednesday (since UPS decided to NOT work today !)... I'm looking to do a conservative OC on this board/chip with an EVGA 8800GTS G92. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if this is a subject that's been beaten to death already, but searching I haven't found any definitive results if the P35-T2R's stock chipset cooling heatpipe setup is up to par or not? My case doesn't have much in terms of fan power, as the only fans in the Stacker are the 2 120mm exhaust fans which are undervolted Sycthe's. Will airflow they draw be enough to make sure nothing gets too hot? or are their some aftermarket alternatives for the board that provide better cooling?

Depends are what kind of voltages you'll be running. At the moment I'm running the stock heatsink/heatpipe combo with no Transpiper at moderate overclocks (3.6Ghz @ 450FSB w/slightly increased NB/VTT voltages and I have no problems with cooling (although I do have a small 60mm fan blowing on the RAM which also moves some air around the NB.

Just to add to that, quad core CPU's generally put more strain on the PWM's and so increase heat out put. Dual cores are alot easier on the board.

Just ordered this up and a couple of visiontek 3870's so looking forward to finally being off of 680i, been on 680i for over a year now, and am sick of it. Love my 8800gtx's, but the 680i yorkfield mess (even though ASUS seems to have fixed it on the Striker, make it worth a bit more, yea!)

Last DFI was 680i they had, but only ran it for a couple of months, very unhappy with it. Prior to that the cfx 3200, so been a while. I hope they have figured out Intel with this board, and it is all I know they can do.

Have a Q6600 to throw in right now, and depending on what happens at the end of the month with INTEL one of thier extreme edition cpu's

Ive done pretty much the same thing... so fed up with 680i i gave up... been through sooo many boards due to one reason or another, i decided i'd rather have a single GTX than put up with 680i any more!

Before my P5K Prem bit the dust, I had been using 1.400v with my X3210 at 3.8Ghz, if I was to elevate the voltage slightly (nothing more then 1.5v) to try and push for 4Ghz would I still be in the safe zone temp wise?

I do also have a OCZ Ram cooler which may move a bit of air around the socket and so on...

No, transpiper is still in the box. I use 120mm fan and couple of swiftech ramsinks on NB/PWM . Cold air did the rest of it.

Mike had brought up a great point I didn't think about for some reason. Since your running a Quad Core there will be additional heatload on the PWM area that I don't have because I'm running a Dual Core chip. Probably the best thing to do is just monitor the heatsinks and watch the temps. If the PWM, NB, or SB get too hot you'll know you need additional cooling in those areas. From what I've read and from personal experience the best way to cool these areas is to just use a fan blowing direclty onto those area (or something more fancy if you want). The idea is to just get more air over the heatsinks. One last thing, I've attached my Transpiper on both the SB and PWM heatsink. Even though the blocks got quite warm/hot that heat never made it's way up to the finned part of the Transpiper. The joint that is in the Transpipe doesn't seem to conduct heat very well from one part of it to the other. I thought about soldering the connection but I'm not sure if that would help and it would not allow any adjustability to the Transpiper.

maybe not 4.5 with any stability. for better times try 4-4-4-9


edit: just noticed you are at 1x pci-e width ? maybe adjust the fsb vtt a little higher, cpu vtt is a little low in relation also, might help.
