been awhile since I droped in here (i dont post much lol), but ive come away from this thread with some ideas about how to push some more outa my P5K prem.

All in all, its been a awesome board. I had the P5B D, then P5K D in different computers and even tho its only small steps, this board is diffinately the best.

Running just over 4Ghz quite easily. 35c idle / 50c load. My other setups both ran 3.4ghz 24/7, but this ones looking like 4GHZ+ 24/7.

I have seen alot of asus bashing resently, vista and intel have really put some pressure on the MB makers. good job asus, this is a quality board

    CPU : i7 2600k @ 5Ghz
    RAM: 2GB DDR3 Corsair 1600mhz 78720
    MB : Asus P8P67
    GFX : ATi HD6970
    HD: Cosair F60 SSD - Raid0 + 1TB Samsung - Raid1
    Sound : Razer AC-1 and AD700s
    PSU : Thermaltake ToughPower 750W
    LCD : Asus 24inch MK241H 2ms
    Cooling : Swiftech CPU

Do you need the two little fans if your water cooling?

I put them on as they are not particularly noisey and it helps with the mosfet cooling!

No dumb question at all. But your raid bios (you know know when you're able to see the HDDs on the intel RAID where you can set up different types of RAID like 1, 0, 5, 10, etc) the HDDs appear and then disappear and YES I tried it with different SATA cables.

Just got a p5k premium with my e6850.. However i cannot overclock.

    During startup it starts with:

CPU fan error (cause i'm using water)
Then it says: New cpu bla bla bla. Please setup bios.

Every single time it says new cpu, i'm using bios 0404 (came with the board).

Standard clock reported 3.00 ghz, whenever i clock(no matter what speed, voltage, timings, ram etc. etc.) it display 3.01 ghz.

I've tried to reset bios using the cmos jumper, hard for me to get to the battery, it did say cmos cleared however.

    HELP

Disable the CPU fan detection in the bios mate, that will get rid off that error message or hook up a case fan or such to the CPU fan connector... it might be that it just boots at stock again due to that malfunction the baords detects...

Don't worry about the 3.01ghz see it as a gift from Asus as their 333FSB prolly is 334 or such in reality
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

How do i disable that? Can't seem to find it anywhere..

And is there a way for me to go to bios 0402? It seems as the best for overclocking

Still no luck. Disabled the fan, downgraded to bios 0402.

Every single time i reboot no matter what i change it says: New CPU installed go to setup bla bla bla.

I can skip this and load default settings..

Sometimes this happens when the system is unstable. Try go stock everything and then go slowly. Also, make sure you set it to "Halt no errors" or something similar. If you don't know where certain stuff is, go READ THE MANUAL!

I gotta be honest, I've been lucky enough to get my hands on a sorted one of these boards.

I had 2 dodgy maximus's and no good.

Wait for it, wait for it...

just to rub it in, I run PRIME stable at 4.1ghz on my Q6600! and run my memory at 1388 at 4-4-4-8 timings.

Memory is a new batch of the OCZ flex 9200 memory...

watercooled the whole rig from mosfets to chipsets to gpu to memory.

    loving it!

now this pc stays closed period. no upgrading this mother, will sell her on when its time to upgrade next xmas.

Update to the newest bios and see what happens. If it doesnt fix it, u need a new board.

Good advice - reflash using ezflash and a USB stick. Before you do that though I would check the CPU seating- You may not be getting proper contact. You may have inadvertantly got some paste on the contacts. I remebered reading this thread http://www.techsupportforum.com/hard...y-boot-up.html were the person encountered the same problem and it turned out to be a bent pin on his AMD setup. Clean you CPU contacts with some CPU cleaner and reseat. Check the MB contacts.
For reading temp sensor etc and diplaying on screen try PCWIZARD 2008. http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php Neat little tool and displays on screen when you minimise it.

Make sure that you have the TWO 4 pin power connectors connected at top left of board (you will have to remove a cover on one of them). Your PSU will have to be good also
