    WTF, damn.

From owning both the crosshair (great), striker (LOL), I always thought the "ROG" branding was dumb, this proves it.

well that is very interesting........if someone can confirm this to be the case i gotta let some friends know about this and maybe not to consider this feature in their designs afterall heh

Don't care how it looks though layout and some featres are important. Give me a review with performance/oc/temp/BIOS options and compatibility or we're clueless about it.

good god. That heatsink is retarded. 780i must be one hot ass chip. I can't believe they'd even think of releasing that. After you upgrade from this mobo, you can recommission it as a space heater.

    wOoOoOoOoW It's shiney.

"Most will loose" lol.. Yer it could be a battle, but like I found with the 680i, once you come to understand one another the results can be rewarding. Use the memory bandwidth, but don't go looking for the flaws, because they're everwhere, and bite hard.

    Totally agree. Heatsink is retarded.

BTW i've touched the NB of a 680i running a quad with SLI, while running crysis bench and it simply burned my finger...

I've touched my NB when I first had CPU on liquid and not the NB and it burnt my finger about 10 minuts after boot of doing absolutely nothing.. They really do need aftermarket cooling. But how are you supposed to do something where the IO panel with the mosfet cooler is.

lol @ 2nd board. The chipsets have ~20W TDP and Asus put half a kilo of metal there.

    Hmmm...

"Bridge Core Voltage?" What is that? New/higher CPU VTT is a nice touch.

Based on what we see here I would imaging that Asus' version of the 790 chipset must be nice.

SB temp. is close (around 65 celcius degrees) to Striker II Formula predcessor - Striker Extreme, but NB is a little bit colder... good good, not so many MB will overheat in classical AC cooled systems.

What's good - it's FSB - with Yorkfield CPU it's stable up to 450MHz which is very nice At least comparable to reference nF780i boards.
Wolfdale, Conroe & Kentsfield driven CPUs - we did not checked it yet. But for dual-cores it should be ~520MHz.

It's definitely board, not CPU, as those babies we have are known to work around 490 MHz on intel-based motherboards.

Memory bandwidth is really good, but is hard to push it higher than 1000 5-5-5 atm. MB would not POST over it before clrcmos... 1t/2t works fine, like with first Striker Extreme.

Disabling cores from bios works fine too.

And sth really funny, which wasn't seen earlier - BIOS wallpaper :].

And another suprise - with 0501 BIOS, N/2 multi works, but with latest 0702 - not.
