Im getting the LT version of this board, just wondering if anyone is watercooling the northbridge and if so, with what waterblock.

I've been interested in watercooling NB but I havn't found a suitable block yet (although I think there are a couple that would fit although their not meant for this board or chipset)? To be honest though I'm having pretty good results from using a small adjustable fan directed at NB area, pretty decent stock blocks and heatpipe arrangement (at least at my current setttings the stock cooling is working fine).

By the way guys my new replacment eVGA 8800GTX is working at 100%, something must have happened to my original card from the time I removed from eVGA 680i and installed into the DFI? I'm glad to now know it's not any kind of incompatibility between the card and motherboard!

ok i just flashed the 12/05 beta... didn't see any difference (maybe since the 12/05 was intended for Yorkies/Wolfies...??)...

noticed too that the O.C Retry didn't seem to work for me...i set it to 1 & i tried to do an OC fail, but i still got the C1 error, so i had to clear CMOS.

& i seem to be unable to set my RAM's fine clock settings, i tried to change it to More Aggressive but i get an OC fail...& when i tried flashing back to previous bios, i can't set the fine clock settings anymore. but it works if i keep it at AUTO. hmmm could my GKX finally taken it's toll on me?

That maybe, but I am considering getting either this board or the DFI X38 board and I have 2 MCW30's lying around here, so I may as well make use of at least one of them. Any idea if they will fit either/both the NB & SB?

are you using very high NB voltage? I heard of this happening when you get near 1.7v on the Northbridge.

Nope. NB voltage only 1.61 from bios option.

Here's the screenshoot with bios 1107 all default, pcie link width show the correct value (16x):




And this is screenshoot with newest beta bios, 1205, suddenly pcie link width show the weird (1x):




I flashed with the newest bios to fix the weirdness, but unfortunately, that problem isn't from mobo bios problem.

I think you don't need that man, just put an 80mm fan to blow onto the NB itself and that will keep it cool as long as you've got a nice airflow inside the case.

Can anybody compare new bios with the 9/13 in latency and read rate. My wc pump died so I'm unable to, but I doubt it will be any faster.

Not necessarily. I plan on dropping a Q9650 into this board. It needs High fsb to hit the faster clocks. Water on the chipset will definitely help.

Youd be lucky to hit 480fsb on the QX9650.... With my E6600 I was using max volts on the nb when benching and now with the QX I think I used 1.6v only....

MCW30 sits just fine on the northbridge, I have one myself on it. I did not try the SB, but from what was said earlier in this thread, it won't be a good fit. DD Maze 4 however, will fit the SB (atleast from what someone said earlier in this thread).

I flashed the new 12/24 bios earlier today. So far it is identical to the 12/05 bios except for the fact that the Special JMB386 patch option is no longer listed in the 12/24 where it is in the 12/05 bios. OC Fail Retry option is still present and should be a nice feature as long as it works.

using some Team Group GKXs... no problems noted... except that i can't do Fine Clock Delay Settings in the bios (i don't know why... )

Don't use Cell Shock it was ahuge let down to buy the PC2 8000 4-4-4-12 and pay $330.00 to be able to get 1050mhz O.C on this Board with them when the dp 1187MHZ
