Just started messing around with this board -- kind of late to the party.![]()
I've already been able to get a higher OCCT-stable FSB overclock on my QX9650 using this board vs. Maximus Extreme (highest stable fsb on the Asus board was 460). Also my yorkfield seems to like a bit lower GTL settings than q6600 -- 105-105-108 at 1.6v VTT (in bios).
terroristone, I had nothing but trouble with this board until I changed ram. Using some Corsair PC8888 Dominators that have served me well before, the board would post but oddly enough would not install Windows. Of course, the memory was the last component I thought to swap out.Anyway, with a different pair of Corsair sticks all is well.

@Campbell, John & Delemon: Thanks! Merry Christmas!![]()
Update: Swapped my RAM modules from the green slots to the yellow, 88 code went away. Running SPi at 340x10. Btw, has anyone else noticed a really high pitched squealing noise coming when under full load?

Hello,
I'm very confused about pcie link width in cpu-z, because its show only 1x when I oc my Q66. I have LPUT P35 bios 913, 88GT and Q66. Sometimes, cpu-z show the correct link width (16x), but usually show only 1x. What should I do to 'correct' that?
are you using very high NB voltage? I heard of this happening when you get near 1.7v on the Northbridge.

If anyone is running 4 X 1GB on this board with any sort of D9 based chips, what is your max memory frequency with 4 sticks at a 4GB load with this board? I am currently running 1126mhz. I have seen much higher but that is with 2GB of memory installed. I would like to know what others with 4GB of ram, primarily 4 X 1GB sticks are getting as max memory frequency however they must be 100% stable for 24/7 use.

anyone using the 12/05 beta? is it any better? stability?![]()
i was trying to downgrade the bios to version 10/05 but unfortunately my computer freeze
is there any way to recover the bios from bad flash?
any shortcut to force flash from floppy/cdrom or usb drive?
tnx in advance![]()
If you read above I did a complete review of what the 12/05 bios has to offer. I am currently still on it and find it no worse than the 11/13 bios which I was also very happy with. Stability and speed is near identical but with a good few changes/additions over previous bios. I would not hesitate to recommend it in the least.

If you cannot post and have no means to find a way to get another flash started I am sorry to say you are out of luck. You will need a new bios chip. Brother Esau is selling some pre flashed with a bios of your choice. He is your best bet. How did you flash before it froze? In the future ONLY flash in a stock status with optimized defaults loaded as well as from a floppy in DOS mode. Never flash from windows or overclocked or you are looking for trouble.

Just flashed to new beta I just received from DFI, sorry but I dont really notice differences between bios, I just flash mostly to fix problems so cant answer if its better than previos or not....
its lpdc24 or something like that and heres the description:
1. Change ICH9R AHCI ROM
2. Pach for QX9650 radio issue
3. Adjust dram tfine item value
4. Add O.C fail item
Find another chip and hotflash....
One thing people always forget is to set vdimm at 2.2v ( or whatever youre comfortable with ) if using Micron D9GKX or D9GMH as thats thier operating voltage.... though these sticks will boot at 1.8v, they are not happy at that default voltage....
I think I'm going to finally take the plunge and purchase the board but want to pair it with a Zalman CNPS9500A. However, I am slightly concerned that the heatsink will not properly fit on the board. I have looked around on Zalman's site and DFI's site but have not found anything regarding the computability of the two. Thus, I am wondering if the Zalman CNPS9500A compatible without having to resort to any mods?
Thanks in advance...and Merry Christmas to all
PS: Forgot to mention that this is my first post...I've been lurking around since around the middle of November and finally decided to register. Suffice it to say, I have a lot of catching up to do with many, but I've definitely appreciate the help and advice offered here.

You want to get the Tuniq Tower 120 or Thermaltake Ultra XTreme 120
SuperMicro X8SAX

Intel 520 180GB Cherryville

Having read a decent number of posts in this thread I couldn't help but notice that the aforementioned hsfs were common in the siggys of users. However, I am somewhat concerned over the weight of the Thermaltake Ultra 120. Thus, I was looking at the Thermalright Ultima-90 as a nice compromise between performance and portability. It would seem that the Ultima-90 has received favorable treatment, but do you all think I should stick with the 120 and either not move so much or remove the hsf whenever I might move?
Thanks again for the advice.
WhoooopsRight you are old boy!
Sorry I meant Thermalright
