The new Ninja Cooper is designed for two different mode of operation.
Firstly, as a performance level solution when coupled with a 120mm fan and secondly as a passive heatsink for silent operation and the Ninja is designed to dissipate heat via six copper heatpipes(380mmx6mm) connected to the base of the heatsink.

Methodology
Please keep this in mind when looking at the results.
the room temperature was measured at 20C for all tests, but temp fluctuations, different mounting and user error can account up to 1-3C of inaccuracy in the obtained results.
System was stressed by running 4 x orthos for 10mins and this application pushes the temperature higher then any other application
The CPU temperature was measured with Coretemp and lowest (idle) and highest(load) value recorded.

Passive CPU cooling can be quite a challenge with recent high end CPUs but it's important to know that having a high end PC system and keeping it dead silent, won't be possible, for now.
Today the Scythe still stands strong and I recommend the Ninja Cooper to everyone if they want to build a silent system but he is very heavy and I don't care about that cz the retention system is strong enough to hold that 1000g of cooling.

Is the Ninja Cooper one of the best air cooler on market?

What I absolutely hate about Scythe heatsinks is their somewhat odd choice to slap an old style heatsink onto the heatpipes. Does this not defeat the whole purpose of heatpipes because there will be thermal dead spots in the heatsink where the heat just sits and cannot be piped away?

TRUE is better than IFX. So, I dont think Ninja can get at the best position.
Also, its weight is more than 1 kg. :S

I have a ninja cooling a B3 q66 @ 3ghz, with ninja's stock fan...66c loaded. I can only hope this does about 55-60c with the same cpu...but that seems liek a tall order...

passive cooling is a myth, all passive cooling requires some sort of fan moving air across the object in question. Ive proven this over and over again with test results. With out moving air, passive coolers just heat up until they hit saftey shutdowns or burn up completely.

AriciU, it was just an experimental cooler. As far as I know Scythe wasn't going to sell them on the market.
