Hi, not really sure what you mean by inaccurate temps. If you are using probe, or the cpu reading in everest, then your temp reading will alway be inaccurate. You should use either coretemps, or the ones marked core#1, and so on, in everest. All this stuff about the bios reading the temps inaccurate is tosh, it's always been that way as it uses the external diode to take its reading from..

Hi guys got my system up and running yesterday, i really want to overclock this but have never overclocked before.

I was going to try the example bios settings for anandtech on the first but noticed it was for dual core, and the other example settings from users i really dont know what to try first i dont want to zap my cpu straight away with wrong settings

Is there any settings guide for say 3ghz? as i just want to push it up gradually.

Im currently on q6600 with 4gb (2x2gb stick) of ocz reaperx ram, any help would be really appreciated.

edit: oops first example was for quad core my bad gonna try it out.

Just playing with the board. Primed at 450x8 without much effort.

Can't for the life of me get it to bench at 4GHz (445x9), instant restarts as soon as the load starts, regardless of any voltages set. Tried 401, 602 & 903. Its not the cpu, put the same one back in my IP35 Pro and it'll bench all day at 4GHz 1.6v. I have a feeling its something to do with GTL settings. Setting 70% on my Abit made it stable, cant set past 63% on the maximus. Any ideas? Tried all the user configs, didnt help.

Well, I like to check the temp once in a while while poking around in the BIOS. My current reading w/ a 6850 and 907 is 4C. Would be nice tho.

Problem: A friend of mine has this mb and computer will not boot unless all settings are AUTO. Even if he changes AI Overclock Tuner to MANUAL then exit and save, comp shut down then boots and then shutdown. After that he has to press button to restart again and recieves message OVERCLOCK FAILED. He has tried 2 diff memories (Gskill HZ and Dominator 8500 in both slots) and 2 ps (TT1200 and Silverstone 850). Bios is 0903. All help is appreciated!

Guys 0907 seems the same for clocking as 0903 really. Only done short testing but no real difference I can see. Just testing all STRAP / DDR combinations to see if any have improved in terms of both speed and high FSB clocking.

X48 maybe be worth waiting for, but I don't think it's worth ditching this $250 MB. Plus isn't X48 going to be DDR3 only?

I will see how the FSB overclocking goes on X48 not that impressed with the attainable FSB's on this board yet but I believe improved bios revisions should sort that out. Which ever clocks better I will end up with.

Don't know what ur talking about, but the temps were inacurate. Dunno why, but I was getting 43c in bios and everest and TAT. Stuck there and it didn't move during idle no matter what voltage the cpu was at, 1.3 or 1.7. I know the shortcomings of cpu temp reading and trust me something was causing inacurate readings. I'm on bios 0907 now and the temps seem right, but the board I RMA'd was WAY off with 0903.

So is there an advantage to flash to 907?
seems to be mixed reviews on this one again, has anyone seen the data sheet on 907 yet?

There should be a section (or a poll) in the after where the BIOS's are posted for user feedback of which ones seem to be working or have PERCEIVED issues. After reading the thread, it sounds like everyone who has tried the 0903 and posted about it seems relatively happy. All of the other data is consolidated, sounds like a good add.

BTW, I have the board and all components except for a CPU which I'm waiting on someone to send me This will be temporary until the E8500's come out! I'm looking forward to tweaking this bad boy.

To further, does anyone have problems sometimes on reboot still getting the "DET DRAM" POST error, or sometimes after the post reset double boot, the board will reboot 1 more time and you hear like a cap discharging then you gotta dump value ram into a DIMM?

Anybody care to help me out here? I think I have this thing pretty stable, but it seems that I get some lags/handups in UT3 after playing for a bit and superPi has some issues is I run calculations back to back too soon after on another. I've tried a few different setting and they all seem to give me the same result. Here's what I have now.

Right, I should file a patent for the cooling below env. temp. w/ water. Turns out that the temp is about -15C off. Hm, where did I see that before..

Just set CPU PLL to 1.5-1.6v, also set CPU GLT Ref - .63x and NB ref .67x and try it then.

I'm at 3.0Ghz now. Checking core temps while running Prime95 give me 86-86-78-78 and Speed Fan gives me 75 for CPU and 63 for all 4 cores. Is that too hot for the Q6600 G0? I think it's suppose to run a lil bit cooler. I'm on the process of testing right now and I'll let it run straight for at least 3 hours b4 moving up further.
