Mushkin XP2-8500 are better but awesome expensive. Maybe you can give them up to 2,4 V, but I'd be careful.

aha, thnx guys, will check those out.

about dying memory, I read somewhere that voltage fluctuation mostly kills the mem. in those cases, not too much volts necessarily, of course if you don't give them more than 2.35-2.4V...

    From the review:
I was able to take it 44MHz higher without changing the timings or voltage. When I loosened the timings up to 5-5-5-12, I was able to overclock the RAM 143MHz higher without changing the voltage. What makes this exceptional is that this is a 4GB set of RAM! Do not pass this true 4GB set up as it performs at an exceptional level, but it also gives you room to overclock, all while running tight timings.
Mushkin won't say what the IC is, but i'd guess it's the same as their other 2x2 kits, which would make it Micron D9HBD or D9GSV.

hm it appears to have returned to "ye olde search" again, but for a brief period you needed to input a verification code in order to search... and i tried on several pc's but none of them displayed the verification code image (both firefox, ie 6 and ie 7)

the gskill is a good value for the money.
    $130 for 4gb pc8000

    note though, it's ddr2800 with EPP 1000mhz.

with my oc, my dividers were either 945 or 1136, so I chose 945@2v for 24/7.
but it runs error free at 945.

here's a everest too.. pc is folding atm, so it may be a little off..

    anyway it's a great value @ 2x2gb for $130... http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16820231145

I just bought 2 991580 from newegg. A forum helper at Mushkin said they would perform the same as the 996580.

Sorry for the mini thread jack.

Just out of curiosity, if I couldn't find the G.Skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ (Unless anybody knows of any Australian retailers selling them?), how does the PC6400 version of that 2x2 gb kit go? I'm looking for something that can get up to about 450Mhz with decent timings (5-5-5-15 ish?) without eating itself on my eVGA 680i A1. Anything higher than PC6400 in 2x2gb kits are damn rare over here in Oz, so I'm probably looking at PC6400 stuff.

I believe just anything that does 400MHz at CAS4 by default that it will do 450MHz cas5 with 2.2V,my kit with promos chips does 500mhz 5-5-5-15 2T with a bit of work (stable)

    I got a 2x2 ($73) a-data kit out of Canada Computers:

    4-4-4 @ 800, 2.2v.
    5-5-5 @ 1000 2.2v. Both are easy as cheese.

    I´ve been running a F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ kit for about 2 weeks and it´s rockstable at 1000 5-5-5-15 1,84v.

I´m very happy with them because at first i wouldn´t imagine that kit doing anything above 900

I would show you a primeshot but i´m running Vista 64 and neither Asus probe or other programs show correct vdimm values

@Cordovader: only 1.84V??? omg, what does it do with 2.2V then? I mean, it's behaving like a 2x1GB kit, lucky you...

EDIT: I'm currently running my Cellshock D9GKXs, enjoying the speed
