    think i've found a spot to make it stable for normal day at 9x475, but i'm getting some temps differences when running high load benchies like wprime 1024 or occt, from hottest core to coolest there's about 9-12º

    are you guys getting similar results with quads?

    My temps are pretty even across the board...

    I think you might be having some mounting issues. I suggest you remount your block and see if that helps. Who knows, maybe its time to get out the wet/dry!!!

    Hey,

    Is it normal for there to be a 12 degree difference between coretemp and Uguru? My CPU temp is 28 Uguru and 38-40 CoreTemp.

    Yes. Coretemp is correct, uguru is not

    I need some help, guys.I got me another IP35 Pro with a e6550 and i seem to be stuck at 3.101Ghz.Anything higher than that and system would not boot.I would like to at least get to 3.4Ghz but i think my ram is the limiting factor.Is there any way to manually input the ram speed manually without using the dividers?I know that my particular ram would not go any higher than 920Mhz because i used it before on another system.I was thinking of upgrading the bios to the latest official one but is there any benefits to it?Thanks guts for any help and i will keep on trying also to solve this.

    65c is the 'limit' Intel sets for 'Out-of-the-Box' non-OCed CPUs using the stock cooler.
    You can probably deviate a bit, but I'd be careful going any higher than that, depending on your voltages.

    definitely upgrade to 16.B04...it's a must!

    try using 1:1 FSB to memory ratio and use loose timings in the beginning to find your top limit.

    So Ace,what are the main benefits of upgrading the bios to the 16.B04 beta bios?I wanna know more about it before i give it a go.Thanks.And yeah,i finally solved my problem.Stupid me,i had my OCZ S.O.E. PC6400 running at 1.975V@886Mhz and it is rated at 2.1V.Funny thing is,CPU-Z says it's rated at 1.8V.But when i looked at it on the "egg",it's specs says it runs at 2.1V and has an EVP up to 2.2V.I guess that was why it wouldn't boot at all if i went higher.So i gave it a shot and BAAAAAM,3.2Ghz .I'm trying for at least 3.5Ghz on this CPU so if updating my bios is gonna benefit me on this board,i'll give it a shot.Thanks again.

    Sorry for the off topic. Here is a picture of my test cpu that has been lapped. It took me about an hour. My real Q6600 will be next. I plan to do it sometimes next week.

    on the topic of the dfi:

    you cant, in all seriousness, compare them can you? the bios for the abit is no doubt 10, if not 20 times more mature considering the time that the p35 has been released to the time the x38 and DFI have been.

    Here's another question... has anyone everblown a Q6600? Just curious.

    P.S. That lapted CPU is sweet. I was always to lazy and chicken to lap.

    well, i will be taking my NB out of my loop since i will be adding my 8800 GT here pretty soon....i was wondering what everyones suggestions for a NB cooler are. Im thinking of this evercool which i used on my DFI NF4 board and it worked great http://www.petrastechshop.com/evvcvgcodnf4.html Or this thermalright http://www.petrastechshop.com/thhrhrichco.html Leaning towards the evercool since it is obviously much cheaper

    rare to burn a quad up, it happens though. Usually only on sucide runs for extended time, or with people into LN2 stuff really pushing chips, even then you dont see or hear much about them going south, the cpu is probably the most reliable piece in a build, you would be surprised how much abuse they can take nowdays.

    ram on the other hand isnt so tuff, or most boards for that matter

    71c is the max recommended by intel for 24/7 use at 1.35v

    1)For @sonofander:Every test you run is one core only (one thread). Prime/wprime/orthos use two threads and stress computer more than anything else even games. So if you are not stable there you are not fully stable.
    2)I have also this great board...but
    I can bench at 8x528@1:1 with no problem.
    But with dividers there are many problems.
    I cannot pass 550 with memory. So this board is very limited to max memory i am afraid. Has anyone run more than 550 on this board?
    3)Performance level is not set as it seems at high fsb. Example:
    Strap 1333/divider 1:1.2 / 500MHz memory->Performance level 6
    Strap 1333/divider 1:1.2 / 540MHz memory->Performance level 7

    Am I the only who can't download this new beta bios? I keep getting file not found message. I use the link in Ace's signature.

    Also does anyone know if it's possible or how to make a bootable cd to update the bios? It's hard to believe but I don't have a floppy drive and no USB drive

    I noticed in your sig that you have a lapped Extreme-120. Was it hard to lapped this monster?. How do grab that heat sink for an even lap? - thanks

    You can probably google this thing and come back with tons of hits. The usb mem stick now is so cheap, run to the store and grab one and save all that trouble.

    Thanks for the encouraging words.
    I was nervous too. That's my AMD 64 3800 X2. I also lapped the heat sink that came with it. It was not too bad. I expect the Q6600 will be much faster because it is smaller. The challenge will be the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme. The base is small but the whole thing is huge (it's coming today) so I have to figure out how to hold that beast. I will post some pics when done if you like.
