I'll have measurement points and values up in a few days. There's been some minor trace rerouting but for now, the P35 measurement points can be used as a reference for where the points are on this board. Same for GTL settings.

i can not duplicate 3960 Mhz by passing wPrime 1024M stability bench like i did on my IP35 Pro...just a little disappointed in this board for not matching that.

way to many tweaks in this bios to get wrong and not be able to attain what i did on the Pro which had a fairly large Vdroop...droop under load was 0.05...the DFI X38 has some droop...i registered about 0.02 under wPrime 1024M bench at 3.8 ghz even with droop control enabled in the bios.

i can see why the Pro won the "Gold" seal award from anandtech.com...don't get me wrong...i am not bashing this board, just a little disappointed in my results...BUT...before passing final judgement, i will put my TRUE on the Q6600 to see if that makes any difference.

IP35 PRO RUN WITH wPRIME 1024M BENCH.

My #1 Lan does not work, anyone else find this? I have it enabled in the bios, but it doesn't show up in Vista. #2 does, which is what I have been using, but this might indicate I have an issue with this board. I also can't get my Areca ARC-1210 to work in the 2nd pci-e slot, when others have shown me that it works just fine. When I first tried the card in that slot, it operated at 1X only, so I put it in the upper 4X slot and it works fine there. I tried it again this morning, after a cmos clear and now the slot doesn't seem to work at all. It's as if the card isn't even installed in it at all. I e-mailed mobopro and requested an RMA. I'll keep this thread posted.

Do you have the PCI-e slots at 4x/NA? If so one of the LAN won't work. Have to set it to 1x 1x to get both working.

EDIT: Hope the RMA through MBpro works out for you. I try to use DFI's RMA as a last resort. They've had my P965-S for over 2 weeks and have yet to update me.

Also, anyone know a reliable way to test memory on this board? Memtest 1.70 doesn't seem to work right and I'm not as trustful of Memtest for Windows.

i took my board out and put my abit back in until more people with better knowledge comes along. Sort of sucked being the first with the board and having a bit trouble with it

Here is what I posted in the the X38/Areca cards thread:

Well, after 2 hours of trying "everything", I figured it out. Can you believe it was because I had both of the floppy power connectors on the motherboard plugged in to floppy power connectors??? That was it! As soon as I pulled both of them, walla! It was magically booting again, and best of all, at 8X!

So, it seems that if you plug those in, you can only put video cards in the 2 pci-e 16X slots. Weird, but everything is running like a champ now. Thanks, oiler, for pointing out that it does indeed work, or else I would have just let it ride the way it was.

    Shawn
Also, you were right about the Lan, so it seems that my board is not defective at all, I am!!! So, case closed and problem solved.

I believe I read on the DFI Club site that this parameter should be 'disabled' to eliminate vdroop. I could be wrong.

I will have my board Tuesday with a new Q6600. I will also test the current x3210 G0 chip I have and see how things go. Hopefully by Thursday I can post some results.

Set to Disabled does indeed remove the Intel specified voltage droop.

my areca 1210 card in the 2nd PCIe slot allowed the board to post but it hung on the 1st post screen...when i swiched it to the 4X electrical pcie (16x physical) slot, it worked just fine.

i have both my lans disabled but i will enable them and then install drivers to see if they show up in XP SP2...let you know

    i'll give that a try..thanks!

you know what is weird...i am using way more vcore on the q6600 than i did on the IP35 Pro board since 1.55 vcore would drop to 1.50 under a wPrime 1024M bench...on this board, i am dropping to 1.55 vcore and it kicks me out of windows after doing about 10-20% of the bench.

Read post #311. I figured it all out. If you have the 4-pin floppy power connectors connected, unplug them and try the 1210 in the 2nd slot again. This solved everything for me. Now it runs at 8X.

Chipset temp in SmartGuardian is the PWM temp, right? It's idling at 38 but loading at 55. Should I be worried? This is after remounting the heatsink with MX-2. NB seems to be doing fine with 38 idle and 45 load.

    WELL!...i figured it out!

i changed the the VC from slot 1 to slot 2 and then plugged the Areca 1210 card into PCIe slot 1...all is working well; both the VC and Areca card...cpuz says the pcie bandwidth is at 16X...could have kept the areca card in the 3rd pcie slot at 4x...there is not a whole lot of difference at least from HDTach.

    EDIT:...maybe burst speed has taken a small increase...like from 640 to 660

I also can't get my Areca ARC-1210 to work in the 2nd pci-e slot, when others have shown me that it works just fine. When I first tried the card in that slot, it operated at 1X only, so I put it in the upper 4X slot and it works fine there. I tried it again this morning, after a cmos clear and now the slot doesn't seem to work at all. It's as if the card isn't even installed in it at all. I e-mailed mobopro and requested an RMA. I'll keep this thread posted.

hey, fixed the lan problem too!...both show up now by putting the areca card in PCIe slot 1 and VC in slot 2...

@Ace-A-Rue..........You are in for a big suprise if you think this board will let you achieve high overclock as easily as Abit IP35 Pro will You have a trial by fire coming you're way but in the end its well worth it

And I would recommend that you install the Dual Floppy connector to the Motherboard!

aaaaaah!...not to sure about this baby...and, not sure plugging in the 5/12v connectors is going to allow me a higher over clock...i am not ovclocking the PCIe bus or even the video card.

EDIT:...plugged in both 5/12v connectors...what it solved was my warm re-boot issue where it would go dark screen and i would have to push on the reset button...still have to evaluate that one.

i reduced my fsb by 10 mhz and it is getting the 1024M bench done...so...instead of 440 fsb X 9 on the IP35 Pro, it is 430 fsb X 9
