anyone figured out the voltage problems yet? I've tested it, and It seems when i use dual-channel mode, It has problems. But When I use Single-channel mode everything runs smooth.

Just a few posts here on this board and I am a OC newbe but thought I
would post this and see what you guys think.

This is for a 3.6 Ghz OC with a QX6700

This is with the stock BIOS or 0401. I will update that in a bit after I finish
backing up everything. Not real sure which is a good working BIOS atm and
reading through these threads, 902,903 seem to give others problems and
hard to flash backwards. I think I have seen a few posts with 602 or 802
    that seem to work fine.

I used the basic setup from the first post and worked from there. Using a
8x450 would not post for me, even up to CPU 1.5v. At that point I changed
to 9x400 and it went smooth. Ended up dropping to CPU 1.468v and that has
    been stable all day.

So in the end I just wanted to give this BIOS a shot to see what it could do.

In Everest it shows the CPU temp, then the temps for all 4 cores which seem
to be higher temp's. Which are the correct temps ?

I will most likely not Prime this as I will update the BIOS and will do it then.

And Thanks a bunch for this updated thread !

i wonder wat does the EPU driver for in the driver cd? i never install it...does it bring any good? i still have cpu temp problem...seems like all my core at 62,62,59,59 and my cpu temp show in everest is at 66,65....is this a problem or wat? is like the temp is higher then the core for 3-4c

lol, ok well ill set it .1 lower
Whats the memory static thing do? sorry i keep forgetting the names, i never had them on my striker extreme.e.....
Also, im getting 65 degrees on my NB, is this too high? im going to try add it to my water loop later...
    -------Edit------
This is the latest that i have got, not pushing too hard on the cpu until i get a new loop(s) for christmas....
What do you think of the NB voltage? I had just run memtest for 2 hours, so that is higher than normal....

yeah, 65*C is quite high... i believe anything over 47* or so is where you see instability issues, according to anandtech. i think i'm at 38-40*C underload. this is with the NB heatsink reseated and water added. i was at 53* before doing these two things. 1.54v fwiw.

Ok, please someone help me by answering this question: I have a Maximus formula coming here in a few days, and was wondering / hoping there is a fix for this CPU temp reading issue. I use coretemp for my cpu monitoring, so will this still affect coretemps readings? I would hate to have spend 249USD on this board, only to have it display way off temps LOL. Thank you
    Nothing anymore

coretemp is fine. its different bios versions that affect the readout with asus probe.

ya coretemp is fine...the only thing is not fine for me is the CPU temp i get either everest and speedfan always show 4c more then the cores...etc 1st core get 60c CPU temp show 64-65...i think it should be -3-4c rite?

when I had the original BIOS 0401, and tried to install the EPU drivers, one touch of the keyboard would lock the computer. I havent touched epu since. May be a 32/64 bit OS issue, who knows... If you install it shout back ok.

Hmm not sure I installed the EPU driver, but the only driver/util I had a problem with in Vista 64bit from the CD was the AI Suite. It made Vista hang, so I removed it.

I`m thinking about buying aircoolers for my NB and SB.
My system is air only and I have the SE Formula. I don`t want to change to water. But my NB temps are a bit to high wirth stockpipe and air. I looked at the HR-05 series and want to knwo, if I can remove NB construction only or if the SB has to be removed, too and I have to buy an SB cooler, too?
I have a TRU120E vertically mounted with one 120mm on each side(front and back) and an 8800GTS(1.PCIe) with HR-03+ mounted downside and HR-11 between TRU120E and casebackside.
What HR-05 will fit there and what cooler for SB is good, if I would need it? They should be passiv.

It's pretty clear that the Freezone is having a hard time at 3.6 with my setup. It also looks like I might need to reseat the CPU cooling block as temps seem float around a lot on each core.

Plus I still need to update the BIOS, just a bit unsure on which version to use atm. Some of you guys say 0903 and some say thats unstable and gives poor performance.

802 has proved to be the best for me.
I can hit up to 485x8
I dont use the 9 multi much, others have had great results with 903 but I have found it CRAP on a quad core, but thats just my 2 cents

dang, just got this board today with a G0 q6600 + ultima-90 with a 120mm fan @~2000rpm. but when I run prime95 some of the cores woop above 55, one is even high as 58 and 2 are around 48. Checking these temps with everest. How the hell do ppl keep theyr cpus idling below 30 and loading below 40-50 with the same heatsink..doesnt seem that much greater than from the stock ..

So is this some Bios fault? I havent updated the bios yet

I would like to build a Q6600 system based on Maximus Formula, but I live in a region where some memory brands are well known with all their models (Kingston, Geil, Kingmax), and some brands are totally unknown (Mushkin, Micron, Crucial for example). For this reason I have a hard time choosing the RAM for my new rig. Everything I know is that I will need 4 GB of RAM, and I will overclock my system a bit (to the level it's still quiet for a living room, using air cooling).

From the posts I read and from future proof reasons I really think I will need 2x2GB insted of 4x1GB sticks. Do you think is it the way to go?

If I go with 2x2GB, I have the following choise of RAM's.
    OCZ XTC Gold
    OCZ XTC Platinum
    OCZ Vista Upgrade Edition
    OCZ Reaper HPC
    OCZ XTC Titanum
OCZ DDR2-1000: ReaperX (will be way too expensive)

    Geil Black Dragon
    Geil Black Dragon EVO ONE
    Geil Ultra

    Corsair TwinX DHX

    Kingston KVR800D2N5K2

    Patriot PDC24G6400ELK

Compustocx Overclocking CEC (German specialist company)

    Kingmax, A-Data

At local prices, the OCZ XTC Titanium, Patriot, Kingston, Corsair are costing about the same (~290 USD), while Compustocx is cheaper by 30% and Geil, Kingmax, A-Data are half the price! Why does OCZ have so many models, is it because they have really big experience with 2x2GB models, or it's just marketing and they are labeling the same PCB-s and chips differently (Vista and Crysis RAM sounds like this...). What would you choose considering the price differences I wrote? Stability is important since I would like to work on that machine too.

Coretemp will give you somewhat of an acurate reading
there are some bios issues temp wise atm
Asus has been spitting bios's out like cheap 2 dollar whore's so they might eventually get it right.
