    Gigabyte X48 DQ6 and QX9770 under cascade.

Some test of the new Gigabyte DQ6 X48 under my cascade.

    Gigabyte X48 DQ6 Bios E1 (10/04 , i have some strap problem with QX9770, tested with 1:1 DDR2)
    2*1go Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC8500
2*Jetway HD 2900XT 900/1000 stock cooled for the test
    Intel QX9770 ES
    Gigabyte Odin 800w PSU

    Cooling , 2stages Cascade.

    3Dmark 2k1

    3Dmark 2k5

    Super Pi 1M

    Screen

With this "old" , i have some Vcore problem and strap problem with the QX9770 , but i will do more test later with new gigabyte bios
    and also with my Qx9650.

    regards,

    Pt1t

Does it feel like Gigabyte picked up the X48 where the X38 left off, or have they treated it like a new chipset and the BIOS sucks?

droop? voltages match BIOS? any quirks? does it feel better than X38? etc etc

Considering the clocks people are seeing on air, the 5.1 GHz seems kind of low. More like what I would expect on SS phase maybe? I see you pulled a 5.5 GHz SPi 1M run, but did you have to use SetFSB to do it? It appears that way. Does the gigabyte BIOS seem immature with lots of headroom for improvement?

Clock for clock does look good though.

5.2 3d isnt the max for this chip ,i did not try the max yet , but the qx9770 is very hot compared to my QX9650.

sheesh 5ghz is crazy and its a quad core, so let me get this straight that setup is 20ghz of computer power?? I wonder if you can take it any higher.

    MOTHERBOARD: Asus Rampage Formula
    PSU: Silverstone DA750
    CPU: 4.0 GHZ E8500 (8x500 w/ 1.275 volts), aircooled (testing)w/Thermalright 120 Extreme for cooling
    VIDEO: BFG 9800GX2 Video Card
    RAM: 4gb Crucial Ballistix DDR2 8500 Ram
    OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
    CASE: Silverstone TJ09BW
    Monitor: Dell 2707FP

Ain't like that ... You don't multiply the frequency of the cpu with the cores to find the total power ... It's 5GHz and that's all
Nevertheless, that doesn't mean they don't have power ... For instance when you are simultaneously running several processor-intensive single/dual-threaded applications on the quad-core, or even video editing programms, you can easily understand the huge difference between a quad core and a dual core (A single core is not even worth mentioning when compared to the above mentioned )
Try comparing a QX9650 @ 5GHz with a P4 Prescott 3.4GHz Hyper-Threading @ 5GHz ... Vast difference between these too ... Not only as far as the MIPS and the MFLOPS are concerned, but also regarding multi-threaded applications !
    Hope you got it

yeah I know that, but the overall power theoretically is 20ghz due to you having 4 cores, but yes I know what you mean with the whole core setup.

Ok, I'm happy you already knew that
@Pt1t: Congrats on your results dude Hope we see some more action though, with the QX9650 (all right, I know both 9650 and 9770 are great ! ) and a new bios ...
How would you describe your experience with the X48 Gigabyte all in all ? Like K404 said, any droops, does the bios Vcore match with the real one ?

    for the moment ,

Bios Vcore 1.8v gives 1.74v IDLE 1.73v Load, 1.85v (when that boot ) gives 1.79v ILDE 1.78v Load. But i know , they ADD voltage Dampler option in the last X38 serie Bioses.

Just makes since to me that a board company would try DDR2 with x48 with how the price of DDR3 is. In the long run tell the prices of DDR3 comes down they want to try and sell as many MB as possible and to many the price of DDR3 is the limiting factor.

Hmmm thanks for the information m8 Any Vcore mod around ? ... 'Cause it seems that the voltage regulation is in need of some improvement ...

Vcore mod is the same as X38 (T) motherboard.
