yeah, just look at the arrows on the side of the fans and make them point toward the rear case fan. the flow will go from front to back and out.

the top case fans are venting also.

the fan on the bottom and the front of the case (you can't see are pulling air in).

so it creates a flow from bottom/front TO back/top within the case.
the push/pull fans on the 120 just keep flow moving through the fins for efficient heat removal. then the case fans pull that air out.

as long as you have a decent air supply for the push/pull fans on the 120 to use, which is waht the case fans do... you'll have great results.

your case may be different than mine, but you get the idea.

mine's a g0... mine definitely was not stable at 380x9 on stock vcore.. in fact IIRC it wouldn't even boot... it did boot at 333x9 on stock v though and was stable the short amount of time it was there.

I guess as the old sayinng goes YMMV..

Damnit! I just can't stop this board hard-locking out of nowhere. I've been running 450x8 for some time now, and sometimes it's stable for weeks, and other times it just hard-locks out of the blue. Like today when I was playing a round of Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts. Played for an hour or so; then complete hard-lock. I press reboot and it goes into this endless loop of shutting itself on and off. To get it booting again I have to turn off the PSU for a few minutes. Last week I turned the PC off (it normally runs 24/7) to clean my radiator filter. Turned it on again; and it hardlocked around 4 times until it just suddenly became stable again and ran for a week before I rebooted it again. This inconsistency in stability is literally driving me crazy! I think I've tried every single bios setting to no avail. Right now I'm wondering if I should get an Asus P5K-E to try and see if the same thing happens on this board.

Edit: just so you know. These overclocks pass 15 hours of Prime95 and half a day of memtest.

Sorry to hear about your fustrations.
I have not experimented much with my max, but I have been tweaking 3.6Ghz 9 x 400. I have my menory 4 x 1gig at 5-4-4-12 at DDR2 980 speed. With the CPU ratio being 1:1.2

    Vcore 1.4350
    MCH 1.41
    VTT 1.23
    ICH 1.05
    DDR2 2.25
    ichio 1.5
    DDR2REG +2%
    CPU GTREF 69%

My temps are 32 at ideal at they reach 57 during the end of the Prime 1024 test, which I pass. I may try to lower the VCore a little more. But I am pretty happy with this set up so far. I am running XP Pro 32 and soon to load Vista 64.

Well, I'm going to try a few more things before I give up. First I'm going to give the newest B03 bios a go, and then I'm going to overclock it from scratch to try to find the cause of my annoying problem. It might just be that my board is a lemon...

I know if I want 3.7 I will have to push it big time! I am stable at 400x9 but not at 404x9 . I am a little afraid to lower the life of my components by overclocking to high, I figure right now I shouldn't have to worry.

I'm using Artic Cooling MX-2 and Cool Master GeminII with two Yates 1350RPM fans. And I have the RC-690 Cool Master Case. My heat sink must help with cooling my mobo.

And I have lowered my Vcore by one level and I was still able to pass prime. So, my Vcore is 1.425 right now. I definately notice better cooling with the 200hours of needed burnin time for my Thermal Coumpound... I think I am reaching that mark right now.

Lastly, I am buying a aftermarket heatsink for my 8800GT... Newegg sells one for $40.00, I am between three models...

    1. cheapest alternative $39 and change, ARCTIC COOLING Accelero S1 VGA Cooler WITH ARCTIC COOLING Turbo Module Sleeve Dual VGA Fan.

    2. Most Expensive $70 Thermaltake HR-03 GT with a 90 or 120 mm fan.

    3. Middle... Themaltake Duorb VGA Cooler $48.65.

I am thinking about the cheapest alternative... Whats your though on a VGA cooler?

for those who have asked about my voltages, i have a screen shot of Uguru with cpuz.

these are in their initial stages of being tweaked...they could go up or down as i try to find the right balance.

word of caution for those who are going to buy a QX9650 and put it on the Pro board...16.b03 is not tweaked for the penryn...the bios vcore is off the wall with setting anything meaningful...and...the temp readout is basically non-functional..even coretemp's latest beta, 0.95.6, is not reliable....SO...watch it when you start to bench the chip in P95, if that is your bread and butter for benches

PS...be advise that cpuz 1.42 and uguru being open will freeze the computer so avoid that condition.

you need 50% of your ddr voltage to be supplied to the dimms to function properly...this becomes very important when you overclock the dimms...so...that percent tile for DDR2 REF is an adjustment factor for that 50%...i always go for the +2%....never set anything less than 0%.

while we are talking about ddr voltage...i measured mine on the board and it is spot on with what i set in Uguru...i've read at least one poster in another forum complaining that his ddr voltage was sligthly lower than what is set...it just goes to show you how the same board can vary in performance for each user.

You mean I am not the only one . You know I was about to post that I pass prime but when I run CPUZ my computer freezes.. usually after one minite of being ideal.

The new HWmon from cpuid has a cool abit guru interface.
dl it, it's cool... runs just like cpuz, just an exe, no install needed.

    here's a screeny of mine.

no need to put a 3rd party NB cooler on the Pro board...just do my heatpipe mod.

i would recommend the Pro board...you will not be disappointed!

All I know is Ace once told me that the range is 67 - 69% and you should see which one works the best with your setup. I find at 69% I am the most stable... after a lot of tweaking around, I based my 69% when I was orclocking at 3.7Ghz.. I found that I lasted the longest during Prime 1024 test before my computer crashed when I was at 69%, vers 67 and 68%... I even tried 70% but again, I lasted the longest without crashing when I was at 69%.

while we are talking about ddr voltage...i measured mine on the board and it is spot on with what i set in Uguru...i've read at least one poster in another forum complaining that his ddr voltage was sligthly lower than what is set...it just goes to show you how the same board can vary in performance for each user.
Thank you for the reply. I'm not sure if I understand you right though. Does increasing the DDR2 ref. actually increase VDIMM? Mine's at the default of 0%. I'm wondering if this can perhaps help me with my hardlock issues...

    try it!

raising it to 2% does not effect set and actual Vdimm...just think of whatever Vdimm is set to, intel spec design for the memory requires a 50% feed of the set (actual) Vdimm to be delivered to certain sections of the memory sticks...if you were to stick a small pin into each little slot on the dimm bank, you would find some readouts at 50% of actual Vdimm and other little slots being feed full Vdimm.

Ah, Gotcha! Thanks alot. I will try that as soon as I get the time. I'm also going to get some more bolts to to the bolt mod to the NB and SB too, because I only had two fitting bolts, so I've only done it to the PWM heatsink. I suspect the NB heatsink isn't making very good contact - it doesn't get hot, under even maximum load. Since there is no temp monitor on it I don't really know how hot it gets... Is the sink supposed to be hot to the touch while overclocking?
