Initial bios 0107 works well, manage my Q6600 G0 oc 3.44G stable, FSBRAM 4:5 also has no problem.
will try higher oc later until new bios that CPU Q-fan is really functional released.

I've been trying to OC a bit today But I seem to have an issue with my 4:5 divider, like most X38 boards have it seems. Because my CPU can handle 400MHz FSB just fine and my RAM can do 500MHz @ 5-4-4-12 - 1.9Vn but I cant run it at the same time CPU @ 400Mhz and RAM @ 500MHz.

    Asus P5E bios 0402

    What I tested:
    FSB: 400MHz
    FSBstrap: 333MHz
    Divider: 1:1
    RAM: 400MHz 5-4-4-12 1.8V
    --> works fine

    FSB: 333MHz
    FSBstrap: 266MHz
    Divider(FSB:RAM): 2:3
    RAM: 500MHz 5-4-4-12 1.9V
    --> works fine

    FSB: 333MHz
    FSBstrap: 333MHz
    Divider(FSB:RAM): 5:8
    RAM: 533MHz 5-5-5-15 1.9V
--> no boot (so my RAM can't run DDR2-1066MHz)

    FSB: 400MHz
    FSBstrap: 266MHz
    Divider(FSB:RAM): 4:5
    RAM: 500MHz 5-5-5-15 1.9V
    --> no boot

MP used:6x (so my CPU isn't the problem, however it can run 8x400 fine )
And i'm very pleased with my RAM cause stock its 400MHz-5-5-5-15, but as you can see it does much better than that

Any1 got an idea how I can get divider 4:5 to work?

    Change

    Nice Jobmullet 500 @ 1:1 is sweet.

I here that TKC, this 107 bios is working so perfectly for my set up that it would be crazy to change, tempting but crazy.

This bios 107 although not perfect clocks very well.

Last night it was very cold out so my liquid cooling system got a real boost!!

    3Do6 went very well also.

true look at that 4:5 divider. What board revision?

The 4:5 divider seems to work the best on this board.

This is a Rev 1.02G board.

I have some 2 x 2gb G.Skill coming in, if it won't duplicate this I'll use it in another system. Getting to know this board has been a challenge in itself.
I am still not there yet. It has only been a week and I have been working some Xtreme hours!

    Bios settings

Here are the settings i used to get to 438 fsb

The only diiference between that and my daily are just a couple settings.
I run the Vcore at 1.6375 and the Northbridge Volts at 1.65. Of course I turn the fsb down to 425. As cool as I run I would have no qualms about running 1.65 V-core daily.

Thx, and kinda funny that your boards OC's your ram alot when it's set to auto... I sure had expected that it just would run it 1:1 with your FSB, because that gives it a much closer value to DDR2-800, which your ram is and says it is with SPD. I should give the 'auto' option a go then

    Edit:
I've did some testing and divider 4:5 only seem to work for me with low FSB.
    Tests I did:
    FSB: 266MHz
    FSBstrap: 266MHz
    Divider(FSB:RAM): 4:5
    RAM: 400MHz 5-5-5-15 1.8V
--> booted fine (is the stock settings for my hardware )

    FSB: 333MHz
    FSBstrap: 266MHz
    Divider(FSB:RAM): 4:5
    RAM: 416MHz 5-5-5-15 1.9V
--> no boot (but this should work fine since this is what I ran 24/7 on my 975X P5W DH)

    FSB: 400MHz
    FSBstrap: 266MHz
    Divider(FSB:RAM): 4:5
    RAM: 500MHz 5-5-5-15 1.9V
--> no boot, even had a BIOS checksum error

Gonna test some more and play a bit with the bios settings and hopefully get it to work

Have you guys bothered to disassemble your X38 HSF's? A couple pages ago I described just how bad the contact (or lack of) is with the MCH / heastsink/heatpipe. You might wanna look at that just for grins...

I found I was only getting contact on the very outside edges/corners....
I lapped all surfaces and applied some MX-2.

    Brahmzy,

I'm not sure but isn't Asus P5E series mobo's HSF heat epoxied with X38's IHS (NB chip)? They should be glued together and hard like concrete when cool, are you sure they do not 100% contact with each other in your board?
While for the HSF of ICH9(SB chip), I believe it's worth a double check as there is only heatpad used.

I SO wish I would have taken a picture - I might be getting another P5E for my second box - I'll snap one then.

There is no epoxy. It's just a very sticky thermal pad on the bottom of the heatsink's copper plate. I disassembled mine before I ever hooked it up and it was very cold from sitting on the porch in freezing temperatures - it popped right off. Scraping the pad off was a real PITA though. But yeah, only the very outside edges and corners made any contact with the X38 IHS. It took a little lapping to flatten out both surfaces too. I'm certainly glad I did it. That's the first thing I always do with a new board is "fix" the cooling.

I am just wondering if THAT might have anything to do with the seemingly odd amount of incosistant results from this board people are having.

Also, again, I did the full VDroop mod.

My P5E is the most rock solid board I've ever used - and I've used a ton.

    Sweet Spot

Well I think I have found the sweet spot for my machine. I needed only bump the mem to 2.3V and it has been running here smooth and fast all day and into tonight. I can run smoothly at 428fsb with tight timings on the 4:5.
This gave me a cpu score of 6066!! on 3D06. I am pretty darned happy with that for now. As a matter of fact I am plum content.
I can run higher for short term benching.....Like this....

The mem was running 4-4-4-5 for this run on the 4:5
But, this isn't a true reflection of where I can run and be stable.
here is a shot of my 06 scores clocks and temps and stability.

I got to say I am lovin this board more and more.
I am curious to see how it is going to do with the 2X2gb G.Skill PC8000 I got coming in on Thursday.

Well I believe the good cooling is the key So get'em cooled down and see

This is a Rev 1.02G board.

I have some 2 x 2gb G.Skill coming in, if it won't duplicate this I'll use it in another system. Getting to know this board has been a challenge in itself.
I am still not there yet. It has only been a week and I have been working some Xtreme hours!
