    FYI
Per master-carr a 4" x 1/4" x 36" piece of copper is $146 plus shipping, so you're probably looking at $40 just in materials not to mention the added tooling cost to machine copper vs aluminum.

    Fantastic design and work.
I really enjoy seeing people on her use their creativity to design new parts from scratch.
I wish I had that much talent.

Dang, just found out I missed the groupbuy at HardOCP, which is where I first heard about this thread, hehe. Oh well, still a great deal for an awesome product. =)

Yeah, a member over at the evga forums decided he liked my sinks started promoting them for me. I wasn't trying to shaft any of my previous customers on price or anything... he just refers the payments to me so he is essentially buying in bulk as far as the reduced amount of time it costs me, that is why I am doing the discount for him.

I am already starting to see a small backlog so the group buy probably will be capped off pretty quick.

Seems like the aluminum ones have less surface area, but cool better? I would get them just because they look better even if they were 5c warmer than the copper ones. The memory doesnt get that hot on the cards anyway as long as youve got some type of heatsink on it.

No worries, I don't think you'd owe anyone an explanation for sound business practice. I'm glad to hear you're getting some solid orders though - hopefully that makes your R&D efforts at least a little rewarding. Maybe you should consider going 'pro' and offering future designs either to another manufacturer or by making bulk quantities yourself.

Easier idea would be to try to license your idea/cad plans to a good manufacturer or do a big order in a machine shop then sell to distributors (NCIX or Danger Den) and get a cut on each sale.

What you got there is a virgin market for sure between full covers and crappy ramsinks so grab it while you can or others will step on it for sure later.

Ian, I am starting to feel bad for sending so many customers your way. If you want me to stop, let me know.

I should be getting my sinks tomorrow. Can't wait to get my computer back together.

    Thanks!

BTW, did it take everyone else a week to get validated to post on this forum?
