bah vista 64 isnt that bad, i can only count on one hand the software incompatibilities ive had with it. But yes uguru does have issues with x64 vista, or xp x64 aswell, i had many bluescreens if it was left running, the new version seems to have fixed that issue, but i get a close error sometimes. No biggie really, just close it sometimes when u dont need it on
lol

ya but this is just pretty bad honestly, i spent 20 mins thursday trying to get through, left 3 messages, no return call NADA. I called him today thoug on a whim at 4 pm and he did pick up and waived the 25$ fee since i dont have my receipt anymore. cool i guess, but still doesnt make up for the fact they sent me the wrong godamn board. Asus is almost as bad, they answer usually quickly, but have an attitude, and send bubble gum boards back, or fubar ones(bubble gum as in actual gum stuck on the pcb!!?" Its ok i forgive dennis, im sure its aty job doing rma all day, i didnt chew him out over it.

Hi there,
I've updated the original thread with the latest drivers available, also added a few more ram which are compatable.
If you can see anything that can be added please let me know, including any new beta bios etc, would be handy to know what changes are made in the Beta 16:B01 & 16:B03 bios if possible as well.![]()

in a nutshell, the Pro board is good as the IX38....almost same clock for clock as far as overclocking...the Pro is holding its own.
i wasn't able to bench very much on the IX38 before i killed it!![]()
i guess the biggest surprise is that there is no idle Vdrop on these 45nm processors...the 16.b03 bios is not indicating and reading the correct vcore...BUT...Uguru is spot on with setting and reading the actual vcore.
the only Vdroop was when i was running a bench like wPrime 1024M which is like a mini P95 run...it puts all 4 cores to 100% while running the computation.
the Vdroop for the Pro was smaller at the lower end of vcore and grew ever so sligthly as i increased the vcore...the IX38 had a 0.03 vdrop pretty much across the spectrum of vcore values...during a bench, the pro had 0.04v load Vdroop while benching at 4.0Ghz...the idle vcore was 1.28v...when i was up to 1.55v, the Vdroop was 0.05.
really not bad and i presume similar results will be attained for the Q9xxx series processors...probably even better for the dual core 8xxx series.
NOTE: i used the 8800 GTS video card at default clocks..otherwise, i would have busted 70K on 3D2001 bench

uguru cpu temp barely moved during wPrime bench...did you notice coretemp's latest beta...all four cores are different and by big margins....when i was running wPrime at 4400 mhz, all the coretemp readouts were closer...core '0' would stay at 51C until the temp from the bench took it higher...i would get 51C reading at idle even at 3 ghz with 1.13v vcore!![]()

hi guys,
ive been reading this thread for over 6 hours and i cant get to the end of it.
there is some real cool stuff in here.(fantastic results with the q6600)
i have a striker, well did have , ive got the dreaded cpu-init, so i have decided to get rid,the board is not worth all the hassle it brings with it.
i have a q6600 and a thermalrite 120 ultra extreme cooler,crucial ballistix 6400.
i have read forum after forum asking various questions about which motherboard to get for an easy and stable overclock.
lots of people seem to say this board or the asus pk5-delux
i am looking for a good overclock on air , what stable fsb could i realisticly reach with this board.
could some one please post some settings for me to look over to get the feel of things ready for when i get my board.
regards
steve

This board is the best mobo i have owned (even better than my previous DFI NF4-D) Tons of options for OCing and very stable. My max fsb is about 490 but i know others have hit higher with theirs. What speed are you looking to hit with your Q6600 and is it a G0 or B3?

3.8-4.0 might be stretching it on air, if you got a good Q6600 then I'd say you'd be all set to go. I haven't tested the max fsb on my board yet. But compared to my AB9 Quad GT, I can still hit the 9x400 easily and using same voltages I can go up to 430 (quad gt required more voltage) and the quad couldn't handle 8x400 but I am currently running 24/7 8x450. Once I got some bugs with esata and RAID worked out the actual oc is awesome, and Uguru is the 1st in windows program I've used to oc that doesn't get me frustrated.

I oc'ed mine within a couple hours after assembly.
333x9 on stock vcore.
378-380x9 on 1.42v bios
400x9 on 1.52v bios
I run 378x9 1.42v bios which sees about 1.37-1.38 in cpuz for daily use folding and it runs cool as cucumber with mx-2 and 120 ultra (all unlapped).
just some settings to get you started. I'm sure it can be fine tuned better, I just started the smp client and haven't tinkered too much since it was built in late Oct. other than some benches at 3.6@1.52 which cpuz reported 1.5v.

I would shoot for 3.4 -3.6 for now and see how your temps are3.8 - 4 on air is highly unlikely (unless you have a really nice chip like Ace has) I'm currently at 425x8 (i wanted a nice even 3.40 ghz lol) I was at 3.7 but the vcore required to get me semi-stable there was ridiculous (every day tasks were stable at 1.57 vcore)....but it was taking 1.6+ vcore to get prime95 or occt semi-stable and even with a nice water setup temps were getting up to 65-67C under load so i dropped it to 3.4 at 1.47 vcore. I just got unlucky in the lottery of getting a good chip for over clocking

AS5 is fine.. just follow the instructions. also, cycle it with some heat cycles... you may get better temps after it cures. with a 120 though it shouldn't be bad anyway at 3.4ghz. run a couple 4-8hr cycles of occt and let it cool in between http://www.ocbase.com/perestroika_en/index.php?Download
mine runs cool for air...
here it is folding right now.
another thing you can do, I read about this here at xs. is mount ush/pull fans with rubber bands. it suprisingly works and holds real well.. I expected them to break, but they are still going 2 months later... no sign of giving out.
used the apevia 120's because they are fairly inexpensive and you get a quantity discout, so they cost abot 6.50 ea if you buy 4 or 5.
plus they have blue led's and add some case lighting from the top and around the thermalright if you like that sort of thing.

thanks for all your help mate ,
i will order some of them fans, do you have the set up as 1 pulling and 1 pushing? its a great idea.
i will start off low and build up to something stable around the 3.4 mark
