You will not get any airflow into that small hole. It is just like trying to blow into a straw with one end covered. No airflow, just a whistling noise as air movement occurs only in the few millimeters near the end. Another way to think about it, put a fan in a hot room with the door and windows closed, you'll get air movement, but no cooling effect, you need an intake and exhaust port to get air flow.

As it stands, remove the rubber caps (rubber doesn't conduct heat well) and cover the holes with a small piece of aluminum foil (aluminum conducts heat, or so I've heard ).
