So, what do you think the chances are that the new 8800GTS (G92) is using A2 of the GPU, and we can flash that bios onto the GT to make it a GTS
Modded my BFG OC bios to some conservative speeds and relaxed my timings to those on the first post with the 1.1 v mod. I'll test it later to see if my overclock has improved or not. Funny thing is...if I overclocked with rivatuner previous to the flash to the same speeds with the factory tighter timings, I scored less in 3DMark06. With the relaxed timings, the bios set overclock and the extra volts, my 3DMark06 actually increased by nearly 500 points. Go figure.
PS - Original clocks were 625/1566/900

I have EVGA vanilla stock GT clocks of 600/900/1500
Did the 1.1V Bios Mod
Running stable 24/7
My memory doesen't clock so well but who cares.
13,333 3DMark06 w/ this also 24/7 stable

To be on the safe side I use now 2 OC profiles:
- 24/7 OC is 700/1675/950 which allow me to play any game maxed out at 1280x1024 except crysis (i have only a 19'' monitor)
- A crysis OC profile at 712/1728/1000 that i activates thanks to a key stroke shortcut set in rivatuner![]()
My memory seems quite good since I only start to get artifacts around 1020 MHz so by running at 1000 MHz I still have a small safety margin.![]()

I tried the BIOS voltmod, 1.2v. I measure the 2d volt to 1.108 and the 3D volt 1.145. Someone said that 1.1 was max trough bios. Is my multimeter inacurate?
I've got a Zotac card which comes stock with 1.1v on the core and 2.0v on the ram, as measured with a multimeter.
Just flashed it with a modded bios (Set to 1.2v and with RAM timings loosened to Qimonda spec) and i'm now seeing 1.15v on the core. Clocks are now 100% stable @

So does only changing the "Extra" voltage in NiBiTor cause the change to 1.10V? My Palit reference card has VIDs 1.10, 1.05, 1.00 and 0.95 but the Extra voltage selection is blank. The card clocks to 756/2124/1836 for 3D06 so far on stock air with stock BIOS.

Unfortunately that is not 100% stable with the stock cooler, it is OK in ATItool until the temperature reaches about 58 to 60 degrees then it occasionally artifacts. I have not tried Crysis as I only have that in Vista, my XP hard disk that I do overclocking with ONLY has XP and the necessary overclocking/benchmarking tools.
So far 720/1728/2050 (approx) is completely game stable but for day-to-day gaming I run at bone stock 600/1500/1800 as that is fast enough for what I play generally. I am sure I could go a bit further than that stable but I'd much rather get the benchmarking results then go back and play games than find the max 100% stable speed that I will never use.

lots of cards have that field blank, as does mine. It's cause it actually has a different value at that address, which doesn't correlate to the known value in nibitor... at least that is what i think. I posted what i found in this thread a few pages ago.
Yours most likely is set to a higher value, even though it doesn't really set it to that value. whether it defaults down to the highest working value (1.1V) hasn't been verified.
click hex view in nibitor, then click the Extra voltage that is blank. it will jump to that address/value in the hex view and show you the value in hex. Now toggle through the values you can select and watch that hex value change... i bet yours was set to a higher hex.

Just bit the bullet and tried the mod.
Steps:
1. Dump BIOS from card to NiBiTor
2. Change "Exact" "Extra" voltage in NiBiTor to 1.1V (was blank)
3. Save BIOS to bootable disk.
4. Reboot to DOS bootable disk, flash using command "nvflash -4 BIOSNAME.rom"
5. Reboot. That's it.
It seems to have worked, happily ATItool testing core @ 756/1836 (which has locked up once or twice for me before in 3D06.
edit: spoke too soon maybe? Perhaps it's the cooler temperatures. 771MHz core artifacted in ATItool right away, no crash or anything though.
edit2: 771MHz core is going fine with shaderclock bumped down to 1782... temp 55°C with stock cooler, fan @ 100%
edit3: 771MHz went fine in ATItool for 30minutes so I've stopped it, bumped core to 777mhz and retried. So far good for 10 minutes.

no need to upper the core and lower the shaders...
you`ll have the same performance like with link clocks.
i`m for now using mine at 771/1890/1900 with water with no problems at all.

Hmm I think cooling may be some of my problem... what maximum load temperature do you get with water?

hello all,
me i've flash my XFX GT with the bios post in first. I change the manufacturer and the subsystem ID.
For précision i'm at (max) : 740/2106/1836 (orig 640/1900/1600)... and i've made 14025 on 3DMark06 with my E6850...
With the bios mod at 1.1 i can't pass this limit !
when i more easy with nibitor i've tryied to put the voltage at 1,15v but impossible, i've tryied tis to :
Voltage 1 : VID0 1v
Voltage 2 : VID1 1,05v
Voltage 3 : VID2 1,1v (= put VID3 for have 1,15v)
Voltage 4 : VID3 1,15v
The same system of bios orig but i replace the VID3 1,1v by 1,15v
All the VID are the same of original 0/1/2/3 but the modif of VID2/3 by hex
2nd test
Voltage 1 : VID0 0,95v
Voltage 2 : VID1 1v
Voltage 3 : VID4 1,15v
Voltage 4 : VID4 1,15v
I put a new VID the 4 and i put 1,15v...
The flash it's ok, but the oc it's the same or bugg of card
I sur that possible to put the voltage more of 1.1v
