    Very nice work windwithme

*Can you run Prime 95 (dual) and not Orthos for stability please>?
*Also, what are your temps idle and priming at 4.5GHz or 4GHz after 30 minutes (and cooling)?
*And we'll wait for the chips max FSB please?

I can usually get a lot higher with Orthos/OCCT saying stable when its not and only P95 really pushes CPU/RAM it like a heavy game is going to. It'll error very quick in it.

WilliamE don't go high V on air. It might work OK for a few days but will start giving errors later on and you won't be able to reverse it by then. I would say 1.6-1.65V at max for a few runs considering you keep it very cool. 24/7 or regular has gotta be less, definitely.

Actually if you had any idea what you were talking about you'd realize that the chips will only get better. Look at the engineering samples of C2D's and you'd find that they didn't clock as well as the retail versions. The A1 stepping of the C2D were just about all engineering samples (although I do believe they sold some A1 stepping retail chips for a week or 2 before B2.) The B2 stepping chips clocked better than the A1 (all engineering samples were A1 stepping.)

Here's a tip for ya: You may want to do a little research before making such a bold statement.
Finch has a very good point actually; "don't assume anything" because you don't mostly know what relationship an ES will have to retail. We've already seen Penryn ES samples that clock differently, b/cus they start off at different voltages (QX9650 1.1V - 1.264V).

Actually Finch' point isn't based on facts, pure speculation and doesn't hold any ground at all.

I'm so glad those Nostradamus type of guys are proven wrong by this thread:

Sorry to be a bit rude about it but all those guys saying Engineering Samples were much better than retail kept bothering me over the course of the last few weeks.

Congrats mister, you even made it single channel i see.

Looks like there's not much difference in SuperPi 1M single or dual channel, just like Hipro5 said.

And eh...your computer might be at risk.

Big difference between what is stable/temps of P95 and Othos/OCCT in my experience. The former is much more vigorous and duplicating intensive gaming stress for me.

    WilliamE: well done my friend.

Aren't these ES chips unlocked though? The retail will locked with that PIA 333FSB and low multi.

Well, coolaler had 570FSB on one of these chips and 563FSB for 5350 so its seems they have decent room ahead.

Has anyone tried phase with this CPU to see the chip-side limit of the bus? Will this thing make it into the mid 500's?

    hmm i think its because
a lot of ppl was hit by the X6800 when it was reviewed and when it came out later
during the ES stages it seems at stock voltages of 1.28-1.3v it could easily do 3.6ghz
when it retailed.. it wasnt the case

Yeah, could be, but making any predictions based on experience of older cpu's is pointless imho.

Look at all those retail X9650's that are floating around, each and everyone of them is as good or even better than the ES.

Now if just one guy came in and said that the ES would probably be better than retail version, i would probably have told him to sit and wait before making any predictions.

For these Penryns, it seems like all these guys joined forces and massively spread the word.

This thread ended all doubt and wiped their theory of the table in true XS style.

    You gotta love it.

    WRONG PLACE FOR THIS.

Please post in the appropriate forum or start PMing mods. Buried in this thread no one will see it and it will just take everything off-topic.

And posting home addresses and phone numbers is bad form.

Is this general with DDR2 based mobos or is it just your bios?
