I don't know yet. Though with latest alpha, behaviour of POST procedure is kinda strange... 4x RSTPCI signal causes POST last for almost 45 secs... nVidia for sure changed ROMSIP table but ... this knowledge what/why was changed is limited atm.
6x, sometimes 8x do work for now, nice and stable.

It's nice to see a Penryn work on the Striker Extreme, but you're running an Engineering Sample and these are known to work in some cases. Can you test with a retail Penryn, or will hipro5 do that?
I would love to see a Penryn work on my Striker...

Well i wouldn't call a QX Penryn really working at 6x multi or even 8x, there's still a long way to go for the 680i to be fully compatible... I think it's time to move on sadly....
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Yeah, of course you're right, but in some way, it IS working... But still a long way to go, I agree.

George, as i know, retail behave the same... so with classic BIOSs it would be 6x only... I'll test it next week, currently i got only ES` versions.

But no board mods are needed to get it > x6

It's not determined yet, if it would be possible to change multiplier for unlocked CPUs such as Extreme versions, right now i could not change it up neither down (9x for QX9650, or 8.5x for Q9550 - in this case, i.e. to 8x) (only 6x due to EIST/C1 do work... but who cares)

Do not use 1401 as it's number. It's just not changed during pre-build so currently there are more than 5 different 1401 so-called builds... look at build date.

Too bad. Hopefully it will be fixed with another bios update. What about stability on default clockspeed?

    read this elsewhere:

NVIDIA has officially given some information on the lack of support for the Yorkfield on its existing nForce 680i motherboards through a document in question/answer format.

To sum things up, NVIDIA confirms as we indicated yesterday that nForce 680i SLI motherboards are incompatible with Intel’s 45nm quad core, the Yorkfield, but they did say it will function with the dual core. This is a hardware based problem because a supplementary circuit is required on nForce 6x0 and nForce 7x0 motherboards to support the CPU. Moreover, support via a simple bios update is not foreseeable.

NVIDIA specifies that the circuit was not required with pre-production Yorkfields and that it is not possible to modify current motherboards to add this support. Of course, nForce 7x0 motherboards will (we hope) all be equipped with this circuit and we can assume that the delay in its release is related to this modification.

Well Striker seems to have better circuitry then the reference design then if the QX9650 works fine now at stock clocks.... my QX is ordered... hope to get 4ghz stable ( on the maximus )

Are you sure QX9650 works at default clocks 9x333 at Striker Extreme? Where is the "6 multi only" bug? Where is a new BIOS from 28.11 (26.11 i already have), i want to test it ... because my expensive QX9650 sitting in the box one month and that is sucks ...
I have prepared Maximus Extreme instead of Striker, give me a good news ... i want to use my Striker ...

Yes we're sure that it works very reliable with 9x multiplier.
This week probably it would touch the sky with unlocked multi.

    I'll let you know.
