I'm at work right now. When I get home my plan is to
- disconnect everything from of the mobo including cards, drives, fans, RAM, CPU and cooler and inspect closely
- take mobo off of tray, lay it on my worktable (to eliminate possible grounding issues between tray and board)
- replace the CMOS battery that I pulled out last night
- hold down the power button for a minute or two to discharge capacitors fully
- plug the power connectors onto the board(this time I will use the 8 pin instead of 4 pin)
- turn on PSU
- push the Clear CMOS button
- turn off PSU
- disconnect the power connectors
- reinstall CPU and cooler
- reinstall one stick of RAM into DIMM Slot A1 (closest to CPU... agreed??)
- hook up one HD
- hook up one video card
- reconnect two power connectors to mobo - turn on the PSU
- should I try to CLEAR CMOS at this point also???
- hit the power button on the mobo
- pray
Any comments/suggestions... particularly the part about WHEN to hit the CLEAR CMOS button??
Do you folks use screw with fibre insulating washers to screw down your mobo, or just screws with no washers?
