Let me know if you plan on getting rid of the HE. I've been looking for a good benching Rad (i.e. best rad for high fanage).

The rad is in PERFECT condition. I bought it from SuperTim0r (and I think it was Gocchin's before that) about a year ago. Dont know what you would be willing to give for it, but I will be sure to let you know if I plan to get rid of it. I have other stuff on the list to buy B4 I get a new rad.

    GSkill PC2 8000 2x2GB

Just a preliminary run to get some type of base settings. All the usual memory performance settings were enabled in the BIOS.

Did this run at 1.958 volts, 1080MHz. Currently $130.00 at NewEgg these might be the thing for 24/7 use with this board for you guys that have a use for more then 2GB of memory.

Will try different timings and speeds later today.

Thanks Praz, I just grabbed this board and memory to pair with my X6800. Looking forward to more of your impressions.

Nice work Praz!! I wish that kit would come down in price in Canada. The lowest price I can find it for is $210 and it is not in stock

Also like to thank you for your work on the GTL tables. Awesome stuff and it is really appreciated

Edit: Hey C-N. I messed with your template and got 475FSB/3.8Ghz/1190Mhz 5-5-5-10 (new ballistix are doing it at 2.2v stable on the 10/05 BIOS and was wondering what you are getting in Everest for Latency and read/write bandwidth? I am getting 10,500MB/s read, 8600 write, and 47.2ns latency

Gonna plop the case outside at -20c and do some hard benching and find max FSB on my Quad this weekend

With a good 6800 you will be able to run at least 520 FSB 24/7. 6800 processors really shine in this board. Mine does 535x7 with VTT set at 1.20 and NB at 1.41 volts.

Thanks. Need to remember that GTL values are very much board and component dependent. The values might vary as much as plus or minus 5 from system to system. But once you get the values locked down for one voltage the difference should pretty much be the same for the rest of the voltage levels.

Ya, I have been trying to nail down my GTL values and I think I am getting close. Now I am trying to use those values to allow for lower voltages.

Finally getting somewhere with my memory. My new Ballistix are now Memtesting at 1190 5-5-5-10 at 2.1vdimm and possibly less. Now all I have to do is get 4x1G running smooth. All-in-all, pleased with the progress on this mobo.

How to you guys test GTL? Any proper methods? Changing the values at random and waiting an hour between changes to test for stability would seem a little tedious to me..

Without proper test equipment GTL settings can be a pain. This is how I would do it if going at it blind so to speak. This is a combination of my original testing methodology and that of Raja's.

Start with setting that are known to be stable with GTL disabled. Find the corresponding GTL values on the charts I posted and plug those into your settings. If you're still stable that's great. But most likely the values will be off by a few. So work in one direction or the other until the system becomes stable. Compare how far off your settings are to the chart. Whatever that amount is should carry over to other VTT voltage settings within a couple of points.

Now how to determine which GTL value to change. This is Raja's way of doing it. Fire up multi-threaded Prime. If either or both of the threads for the same core continue to fail adjust that corresponding GTL. If the threads randomly fail for both cores adjust the NB GTL.

Once you find the optimal GTL settings it may be possible to lower voltages. The GTL values being less then ideal can result in the need for excessive CPU, NB, VTT or memory voltage.

Remember the charts are accurate for my board only. They represent the actual GTL value being set by the BIOS and the required values needed for the Intel recommended 67%. Usually when overclocked the board prefers a value greater then 67%.

    Read: 10675mb/s / Write:8660mb/s / Copy: 9265mb/s / Latency: 46.5 @ 3.8GHz DDR1190 prime stable 2.23-2.27v depending on what you set vNB @ 1.57 or 1.61 respectively.

I pretty much always run 1 click up on the voltages from what is needed to prime as I have found over the years what primes doesn't always game.

    I have vdroop problem.

Set 1.325 in bios, and i get 1.296 in cpuz, smartguardian while priming 4 instances.

How did you guys get yours to stay? I enabled "vdroop control" in bios and it doesn't help.

I know some people got it to be close to perfect, but i can't figure out how

Thanks, but i thought "vdroop control" means controlling vdroop so it won't go out of place?

Its perfectly fine now, i get no vdroop at all by disabling it, but its kinda confusing

    VCORE Droop Control
Enabled - VDROOP is controlled as specified by Intel.
Disabled - VCORE voltage is held constant and longer follows Intel's specifications.

Cool, thanks for the explaination Praz

ALso my PWM is 68C right now according to SmartGuardian, and Chipset is at 56C

I'm doing prime 95 right now. PWM is NB? should i be worry about the temp?

Don't worry bud it had Scottie fooled for a second or too as well

Oh & the PWM is the large heatsink near the I/O plate & the NB is the the one with Lanparty written on it.

I am quite surprised that I got the Vdimm down to 2.12 on the above posted OC. Will make double sure that it is stable with some HCI memtest but I ran quad 32M SuperPI and about an hour of Prime Blend. Impressed with my new ballistix so far. I thought I had a dud set at first but guess not. LOL.

Awesome, 60mv nothing to sneeze at. Did the heatsinks help at all with the squeal? I wish I could detect heat travelling up the right angle of heatpipe, maybe I have a bad one. Heat stops for me right at the bend.

Same here, it was noted in the Anandtech article as well. The design of the pipe is not all that great in that the bend is where the heat collects and goes no further.

I can also confirm that the transpiper on the MOSFET area shaved about 3-4c off my temps with an AMD 70mm fan attached. I can also confirm the crappiest OEM TIM I have ever gotten. The stuff is worse then dry clay

Hi guys, just received the board from Newegg today. Is 9/13 Bios still considered the best so far? What's the consensus?

    Thanks!
