Im still having issues with high FSB but it may be the CPU...
most likely not, a lot of users have been consistently reporting issues with high FSB.. we all wait for a bios update.. but post some results!

Warboy, you posted a screenshot several pages back which showed your temps and voltages in Everest. In the shot your Motherboard Temp is ~19C! Are you doing something in particular with your voltages or air cooling to achieve this? or is that simply a result of your subzero room temperature? My motherboard temp at stock speeds with my Q6600 is around 30C.

Is it still the general consensus that for those with 2 sticks of RAM the white slots on this board offer greater stability? Or is it really just a crap shoot?

    Hello,

I am trying to choose between the maximus formula and the p5e to go with a q6600. I will pair them with 2 3870s in crossfire.
And for memory I am thinking about crucial ballistix pc2-8500.

Does the maximus formula also have that 3rd generation 8-phase power for the cpu? because that latest gen thing only shows up on the P5e's page on asus.com.

Which board would you guys recommend?
    Any other suggestions for memory?

    Thank you

    P5e vs maximus formula?

    Thanks
They're both good so far. The P5E is pretty much the MAXIMUS rebadged and tripped of some and added of others. You get the "2" extra SATA, but still on J-Micron (I'd rather drop in my own Sis on PCI-E).

The MAXIMUS FORMULA has every chance the P5E does with the right BIOS fixes to come.

All the trouble you hear is mostly from quad OC'rs w/ RAM up deviders, and this will be the challenge on both if looking for higher FSB OC.

For Core 2 users on 1:1 w/ tight timings, you cant go wron with either. As for gamers, I like the MAXIMUS for it's unique features such as mobo voltages LED's and LED poster. I like that it is stripped of the stuff I would either not use or just replace, like Wi-Fi, eSATA etc.

The P5E will be likely the last DDR2 X38 but will, or may get revised and /or upgraded in time as newer features come to. But Like most "E" or "Premium" additions, most OC'n stuff is the same.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you very much.

I will be using a q6600 and pc2 8500 ballistix since that ram looks very popular around here.
I do not know if i will be going with cas 4 or cas 5 with the ram.
I have seen a post where the fsb was 550 with p5e. That looks promising for 1:1 ram divider with cas 4.
I am concerned about the cpu overclock with higher fsb because of the upcoming qx9450 etc.. , will need the higher fsb with the low multiplier.

so the p5e was released after the maximus formula?
-but that 3rd generation 8-phase power that only shows on P5E's specifications is not an enhancement over the formula's 8-phase?

I was looking at newegg for the prices, how come the maximus formula se has 46 reviews and 5 stars vs. 8 reviews and 4 stars for the non-se with people reporting a lot of problems?
bad default bios versions? / only the watercooling enthusiasts like to write reviews and know what they are doing?

-do you know how the asus formula would compare against the gigabyte x38-dq6?
