I can hardly believe that, perhaps one of the sticks is faulty.

Just try one stick at a time and try different slots.

Do not immediately overvolt them, go slow on volts, D9 likes volts but only for short periods of time.

Just start of at 2.2-2.25V, 500 (DDR1000) 4-4-4 ought to be a walk in the park.

Did you disable DRAM static read control in bios?

i was running at 5-5-5-15-4-42- shld be 10-13-5 or something.

despite shutting down the power and restarting, somehow the motherboard refused to even revert back to default settings and report a oc failure unlike with my previous rams.

i pumped 2.45v and most voltages in the bios are at the max (CPU is at 1.5375)

    total disappointment.

Here with the 1st kit i was having the same problem as you, i just remove the sticks and put back and work like a charm, try it? And send us a feedback.

yeap i disabled dram static read ctrl.

i also tried running at 1080mhz which immediately failed.

the rams were running at 2.4v and when i raised it to 2.45v the rams worked at 1080mhz.

i guess it was the voltages.

anyway i love my D9GMH oems. I had to slowly burn in till i reached 1200mhz. superPI 8M stable. 5-5-5-15.
where can I find a AMD phenom keychain?

I had bought a pair of these back in September...

I never could get them over 537.5 (ddr2-1075) with 4-4-4 timings no matter the voltage. So I ran them at that (537.5 @ 2.35 volts, which seemed stable)

Then they started crapping out slowly, random restarts and freezes. Occasionally they wouldn't post and I'd have to reset the CMOS to default and apply my settings again.

So I went back to my Corsair 6400C4's (at 1:1 which is 430 @ 4-4-4 for me) and the system has been happy.

I then stuck them in another system I was messing with (e2160) and ran them at modest timings/speed... seemed all good for that purpose (I only had them at 416 with 4-4-4 timings) until Sunday the system rebooted and failed to post.

After that only one stick will post but I have to set the bios for 266 first. The remaining stick failed to post above 266.

Needless to say I RMA'd them today... we'll see how that goes.

I'm guessing I got a bad pair? Or did I fry them with too much voltage? I did have a fan over them the whole time, the never even felt warm to the touch.

Another question... anyone notice the heat spreaders don't make good contact with the chips? My heat spreaders seemed to be bowed out near the contacts so they wern't making good contact with the bottom 1/3 of the chips... maybe this is why mine died?

Yeah, that happens with the heatspreaders. Mine are also bowed in the lower part, but I keep them ventilated with 2 fans so there's no worry I guess

Piece of advice....If you try to take the heatspreaders off Ballistix be very careful, they tend to take the chips with them very easily...

Just did a preliminary testing on a pair of 8500 ballistix. 1080mhz 4-4-4-15 is a no go regardless voltage. Best for 1080mhz is 4-5-5-15 with 2.375v.
Not impressed till now. Tested on a Abit IP35-Pro.

Yeah, 5-5-5 is easy with any sticks that contain D9, now try 4-4-4 @ DDR 1200.

no in my opinion there isn't any problem if you use maximum 2.55V 2.60V (the max stock voltage on various bios in motherboards)for test and 2.2max for daily use

Using 2.55v for tests I think it is ok. NOT for 24/7 use, but for some test, and with active cooling on them. I got mine up to 1200 4-4-4 with 2.4 for tests

    That actually was the answer.

Seriously, over 2.2V isn't recommended for 24/7 use, just for benching purposes, with active cooling over them all the time.

Soo, Buy.com is offering the 2x 1gb kit of ballistix tracer 1066 for $80. I really want to jump on this deal, and upgrade to 4gb. How negatively will this affect my overclock? At all? My current set does at least 1066 at 2.2v stable, but that is with the black slots. If I put them in the yellow ones will it limit how far I can go, or is it sort of luck of the draw?

I have been running 2x1GB PC8500 with Q6600 and MSI P35 Platinum for a few weeks and decided to add another 2x1GB PC8500. The new set I have has a different type of heat spreader, the heat spreader is not interlaced at the top like my other set.

When I run the pairs alone (2x1GB) they will both do one pass of memtest86+ but when I put them all together they will not do a pass of memtest86+. The rest of my hardware is:

    Q6600 G0
    MSI P35 Platinum
    Corsair 620HX

Anyone got any ideas? I've played with the cpu and dimm voltage, but no higher than 2.2v and let the motherboard detect timings and set them myself. Thanks.

Hey guys, I need a little help from you, deciding what to get. OK, I'm thinking about getting new RAM ( again... ), but I don't know which kit will yield the best results. Options are:

    1. OCZ Titanium Alpha VX2 8000
    2. Crucial Anniversary kit
    3. Crucial Ballixtix 8500

I know that the anniversary sticks are hard to get, but you will find them on ebay sooner or later. Though, at the moment I have the best feedback about the Ballistix, and I'm about to get them, but what do you think?

Get the Ballistix 8500's. I've had two kits of the OCZ Titanium Alpha VX2's fail on me. OCZ is replacing the 2nd with reaper's. I was using 2.25-2.3v only, on a 680i board.
