What should I check first? Code 25 is early PCI Initialization - memory assign and also check for valid vga device. Should I buy a cheap PCI express (or just PCI?) video card and try that? (unfortunately my spares are AGP). Or, should I swap out the memory first? The memory is also 3 weeks old. Thanks for any help.

anytime you get error codes, it is a good idea to unplug the PSU, clear CMOS and pop the battery out for about 5 minutes.

also, try inserting the VC in the other PCIe slot and try only one memory stick; swapping out with different sticks to see if one of the sticks has failed.

    hi,
today I swapped my e6600 for q6600. My e6600 was running 3.6ghz@1.45V stable 24/7. However, q6600 is not stable even on 366x9 (3.3ghz). It is H2O cooled, temperatures should not be a problem. I tried to apply the same settings from my w6600, but apparently smth does not work. I did reset the bios, however, I did not reinstall win (I hate doing that as this is my work machine with quite a few programs and peripherals, so reinstall takes a long time)
    Settings I tried to use:
    vcore up to 1.5V
    MCH 1.48
    VTT 1.42
    ich 1.09
    ICHIO 1.65
    68%

Currently I am using 2x1gb ballistix (2x1gb is coming back from RMA), however, ram was set 1:1 so I doubt that this is a problem. Bios is 11. CPU is L737 week.

Any suggestions on OC of this chip..? I think I would prefer e6600 at 3.6ghz+ over 3ghz q6600.....

I have my cpu voltage set to 1.325V. On uGuru I get an oscillation between 1.21V to 1.31V at idle and 1.30V when running Orthos.

I am running a E2160 at 3.oGhz, it is stable with orthos but I am concerned that the voltage is too low.

Why doesn't the MB run at the setpoint 1.325V. This is new and came with bios 14.

It's called C1E and EIST. Those are reduce power and the multiplier of the cpu when it's not doing much. Whats happening is normal but you can turn them off in the bios if you like.

    New Beta Bios 16.b03

hey guys...testing a new beta bios and so far, i like it...Bingo13 (AKA, Gary Key with Anandtech) forwarded it to me for testing...he will post a link here in this thread very soon.

    initial results:

    1) i increased my overclock to 3915 mhz (435 X 9), so far, with successful benching of 3D2001, 3D2005, 3D2006, PCMark2005 and wPrime bench.

2.) could successfully run 4:5 memory ratio, which is the 1066 memory strap, at a slightly lower overclock of 430 FSB X 9 = 3870 Mhz....previously, could not set 4:5 memory ratio using my Dominators DDR1142 or TeamGroup DDR1000.

3.) the only annoyance is when i cold post/boot (could be caused by my high overclock)...i get a siren like sound coming from the mobo/case speaker when it starts from a power off...it is giving you the impression that the memory is out of limits...BUT...in about 2 seconds, the siren sound stops and it post normally....on a warm reboot, it works just fine.

i am still reducing my ICHIO (1.8) and MCH (1.64) to find my bottom point to support 3915 Mhz...i have 1.550 for vcore set in the bios and i am getting about 1.52 actual vcore...once all the low end voltages are found, i will start increasing the FSB to see if i can hold 4Ghz for benching other than Prime 95 type.

I'm getting a little bit desperate here. I can't oc q6600 on this mobo AT ALL. I mean, fsb 300 results in hard lock ups in win. I just used ace settings from post #3584, tried fsb 333 - no luck -windows locked up in few seconds on prime. wtf is wrong? I'm using using beta 16.01 bios.
My previous system e6600 was stable at 3.6ghz.

are you using beta bios 16.b01?...that should cut down on the board shutting down when you make minor changes...my board still shuts down when i jump into a new memory strap or i change multi....all other changes, as i remember, do not shut the board down.

correction on multi change shutting the board down...on my board with beta 16.b01, a multi change does NOT shut the board down...i have the original version 1.0....changing memory timings and memory straps will shut the board down.

beta bioses done by Abit end in a letter and 2 numerical numbers instead of the normal ".BIN" so people know that it is not an official bios...beta's are still in the tweaking stage so things might not work perfectly.

Finally I decided to throw away Asus Maximus Formula and return to the good old IP35Pro dropmodded this time...

I wasn't surprised at all...I knew what to expect...Much better fsb with my Q6600 than the more expensive Asus Maximus Formula...
