Haven't tried it myself, but i trust Shamino's skills

Only reason to HEX edit should be if we want to alter the Vgpu in 2D.
    Worked great for me.

    860MHz/1175MHz @ 1.20V

Thanks again Roger for the info.

    Thanks for sharing TouGe.

    Had a quick look at how the 'QuantumForce' bios-editor does it;
What happens when you set a new Vgpu is that Powerstate 2 & 3 gets overwritten with the new HEX decimal corrensponding to the voltage of choice.

So it's just an automated HEX edting tool. Never the less, its very cool

I didn't think editor tools would take long after spreading this info around a bit, looks like it only took a few days I wonder if it fixes the bios checksum... This is why atiflash doesn't display the bios info for modded bioses. Not to worry thought, the bad checksum won't have a negative affect on your card.

It doesn't let you change the thermal mode voltages, but I suppose you might not want to unless you're a maniac like myself

I've read in that techpowerup thread that some people cannot get it (quantumforce editor) to work in vista x64 without disabling driver signing. Is there a workaround, maybe the F8 option which chooses to disable driver signing at startup??

Edit: Forget i asked, just tried it on vista 64 and it works fine. One thing to note is that overclocking the 2900 is almost useless cause bios automatically loosens the mem timings if overclocked. If you don't believe me just do a quick 3dmark06 bench, after increasing mem speed and you'll see the score stays put, LOL. If somehow the editor could let us edit the mem timings i'm sure performance would increase.

    OK, question for u guys.

If you flash you're card, do you get info displayed at:
    -New Product name?
    -New Bios version?

I dont get any info displayed with any modded bios. When i flash with an original PRO or XT bios i do get info displayed at new product name and new bios version. Every bios which shows this information seems to work.

What are you're experiences with this?

First tried a floppy disk, now booting from an USb stick, doesn't matter.
The flash process seems to work, but i dont get any signal to my monitor.

I always boot from a floppy and do everything from the floppy. But this is what kills me. Why would the stock bios work but nothing else?

    This is strange!
@Ownage: Looking at your picture above - I'm pretty sure there should be information in the fields left blank in your image.

Could you please post the bios you used at that particular flash, or is it my 'XTMOD.BIN' posted here earlier?

This is a 'a long shot' but, if you NOT using a 8 pin power connector, this might be the reason it don't work for you guys - as the Foxconn prog writes values to the Powerstate 3 mode in bios. Powerstate 3 is also refferd to as 'Overdrive' mode. As you well know, Overdrive is disabled when only using 6 pin connectors.

There should be more information. When I flash with the stock bios, not only is there more information in the lines left blank, but there are also more lines OF information!

It happens with ANY bios other than the stock one. That 6/8pin theory can't be true, as I have the 3 solder points bridged on the back of the card. I have confirmed that I can enable and use overdrive as well. I'm thinking it must be the abit motherboards, as we both are using an abit motherboard. Is there anybody who has successfully flashed a 2900 on an abit motherboard?

I think it's safe to say this is due to using an abit motherboard then. Now we just need to figure out if this is a bug with ATItool or with the abit motherboards, and then how to go about fixing this...

Has anyone OC'd there card and then played through Crysis?

The reason I ask is I was able to get everything stable at 840MHz/1165MHZ @ 1.2V using multiple loops of 3DMark06/05 and ~ 1 hour of CoD4 but as soon as I load Crysis I get horrible corruption--green/white flashes resembling laser beams.
When I play it at 780MHz/1180MHz this corruption is not there, is Crysis that demanding or is it that poorly coded?
I had spoke w/ a guy over at Extreme-Pc where I bought both my cards and he said the reason they chose a core clock of 780MHz was due to the amount of corruption they experienced while going through the Crysis demo at higher clocks.
Would heat be the issue? Would water cooling solve this?

I was saying in an earlier post, this is because of a bad checksum (most likely)

When you alter values of a file, the file's checksum result changes. It would then need to be corrected.

This won't however harm your card. A checksum is often used to detect file corruption. We have been altering these files intentionally.

I can't believe any modded bios i tried, and my own modded biosses fail, while every original bios works flawlessly.

DX10 games don't like overclocks for some reason, I had the same problem with Lost Planet in DX10. And I imagine it would be the same with GOW DX10 and others.

Hi guys, I am very new to ati, was always nvidia to the grave

So I have the HIS 2900XT 512mb DDR3 and I want to flash it with a modded bios. I can overclock 100% stable to 870/2400, made a 6pin pci-e to 8pin mod, but I want to try 1.3V with some higher voltages.

So what would be the best way of flashing, do I need to backup my original bios first (how?), do I need to edit my own bios or can I flash with any XT bios..? Can I change Fan speeds..?

What do I use to flash the card..?

Interesting to know. I was going a little crazy there for a while. I wonder if playing Crysis in DX9 @ 840/1165 would show similar corruption.

I'll have to give it a looksee tomorrow.
