If you were going to mount that Noctua on the NB heatsink how would you secure it? Drill holes in the topmost NB plate and bolt the NC-U6 down onto it? I'd like to get the NB idling a little cooler than 45C.
I would mount the Noctua HS by drilling through it and the top of the NB, and then tapping the NB for 10/32 machine screws. That way, you could eliminate the 10/32 nuts.

I would also take the time to lap the top of the NB so that the decorative ridges on the sides and the painted log were gone. When final mounting, I would ensure that there was a thin film of AS-5 on both mating surfaces.

As for my big temperature drop, keep in mind that I have 3 x 120 mm Scythe SFF21E fans blowing cool air into the top of my case/upper MB area + another Scythe SFF21F blowing cool air across the video card area + a Scythe 92mm fan blowing cool air across the Thermalright R600 VGA HS + a 140mm fan on my PSU drawing the warm air down and then out the back.

The end results are that my temperatures are generally pretty good, but that I can hardly call my setup quiet...

Question Has anyone been using Corsair Dominator PC-9136 Memory with this MB?

I need to upgrade my memory, and am looking at the Corsair DHX XMS2 Dominator Dual Channel 2048MB PC9136 DDR2 1142Mhz Memory Kit (2 x 1024MB).

I can get it for $388 Canadian, and it seems to be very highly respected.

What do you consider to be the best memory for overclocking with this board?

Another C1 error, will not even get to the bios.

I just had it working and I made one small change in the bios and now I have a C1.

30 minute clear, Battery out, Power cables out and PSU off dosen't do it, and EZ clear dosen't do a thing either.

I can only run on 1 stick, 2 dosen't even post. I have set the Vdimm to 2.15, more then enough for these sticks.

    Hopefully someone can help
i know you think 2.15 is more than enough but obviously it's not. try 2.23 in bios raise the n/b core to 1.5 and leave the memory page all on auto.then try

As much as I'd love to try that, I would if I could get it to post.

It just loops in C-1 errors.

I'm going to reseat everything except the CPU.

    alright.

I finally got it to boot up.

I have now 1 stick of the crucial ram in, 1gb, and it works fine.

I throw in the second stick and it hangs at "Verifying DMI pool data"

This is with 2.27 vdimm and 1.45 NB core

I agree, I have never had these disabled and it has never interfered with my overclock either. The reduction in power and temps is well worth it in the long run.

I have never needed the teaming app installed to get my net working. I infact have the second port disabled in the bios leaving only the first port enabled. I installed the drivers from Marvell's site themselves and it worked first time around without any fiddling. Perhaps try drivers from Marvell's site over the dodgy ones on the CD.

Just a heads up guys, 11/13 beta bios is out for the board. The reason for change is listed as a ROM update for the ICH9R.

I never used the drivers on the CD either & I too have one disabled in BIOS.

When you download the LAN driver from DFI you get like 4 files 3 with LAN drivers & 1 teaming you need 2 out of the 4 one of which being the teaming app to make the LAN work perhaps the driver direct from Marvel is a bit better to work with why don't you post up a link.

I have 11/13 bios flashed. I haven't retested via prime or whatnot with my settings but normal daily use is just fine. I even loaded my CMOS reloaded settings from 11/07 without an issue. I don't know for sure if anything else has changed in this bios either as most of the time the true, full and accurate list of changes isn't mentioned. The previous bios said only a microcode update yet there were other changes noticed as well with 2 new bios options being listed.

EDIT... this is not the exact driver I used when I installed the board a couple months back but a newer drive is out as of last week for the Marvell Yukon Ethernet adapter. I have successfully updated to this newer driver and things are working just as should and exactly as they have before with the original driver I installed from the Marvell site. Following is a link to the latest driver available for the adapter.

here's the link to the 1113 BETA BIOS for anyone thats interested.

    http://us.dfi.com.tw/Upload/BIOS/LP35DB13.ZIP

I noticed both 1107 & this BETA hang with a RAID array attached going into BIOS for the first time following a flash, I un-plugged my drives set up the BIOS & then plugged them in again & all is well

I am having a bad day man, it all started this morning when I got my tracer 8500's out to quickly fire an old MSI board up to run my EPROM programmer, low and behold somehow one of the sticks has died just sitting there

Then on that same board running on 1 good leg my EPROM programmer packed in & in my haste I shorted & damaged the BIOS chip pulling it out of the board whilst trying a hot flash using a sewing needle rather than the extractor that was sitting on the desk not 2 feet away.

Now I decide to try the 1113 BIOS in my DFI & find 1113 wont post after the flash. So at the end of the day a simple 5 minute flash has taken 1/2 the day cost me a set of tracers a programmer & one bios chip just to find out my board hates the new BIOS anyway LOL

On a positive note the 1113 BIOS is perfectly stable its just it appears not to like running an array & a couple of extra drives on the JMB controller, unplug them & all is well.

I am off to make a cup of tea then have a blast on MOHA, spraying the place up aught to relieve some tension

Well it turns out my ram has died.

My freind came over, and he had the same sticks, punched both those suckers in and it worked beautifully.

Thanks for any help that was given.

    So.

What ram works well with this board?
    i5-750 Quad Core
    HD 6950 1GB
    MSI P55 GD65
    4GB G.SKILL Trident DDR3
    OCZ GSX 700 PSU
    2* 80GB SATA
    1* 250GB SATA
    HTC Omega Claro+
    Lian Li V2000B
