I'm starting my E6850 and GigaByte GA-P35-DQ6 build this weekend and had a question regarding the 12v ATX connector.

On my DQ6, half of the 12v ATX connector is covered by a cap. Am I supposed to remove this cap and plug in the 8-pin 12v connector or leave the cap on and connect the 4-pin 12v connector only? My Corsair HX520 has both a 4-pin and 8-pin connector.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Pull the cap. It is there for people who only have the 4-pin connector. Use the 8-pin connector.

Now that I raised pcie +2 I can get up to 517fsb (unstable) ... testing for stability on 515fsb cuz it was unstable before above 510fsb
    I guess I'm not lucky
Edit: Tried 2x32m pi, the first errored in a few seconds but the other completed without problems.

BTW, I stated that I boosted the MCH voltage as part of my fix. But I was just reading the posts on the last page and saw people having issues with too much MCH voltage as well. So for the record, I wasnted to be more specific. I'm currently running my Q6600 G0 at 400x8 with 4x1GB of Crucial Ballistic PC2-6400 with a 1:1 ratio and 4-4-4-12 timings.

When I was having the PCIe x1 problem, I was running the following settings:
    PCIe clock - auto

    voltages:
    PCIe - normal
    MCH - normal
    RAM - +0.2V
    CPU - 1.325V

To solve the PCIe x1 issue I adjusted my settings as follows:
    PCIe clock - 110MHz

    voltages:
    PCIe - +0.05V
    MCH - +0.05V

    RAM - +0.2V
    CPU - 1.325V

I'm not sure why the others needed so much extra MCH voltage, mine seems to be perfectly stable with these settings (they must be pushing 500MHz+ FSB speeds or something).
So, I posted this a few weeks ago, but I've recently upgraded my cooling in order to reach 3.6GHz. Now my machine is stable when I simply increase the multiplier to x9 to reach 3.6...but I'd like to switch to a faster FSB and drop the multiplier (450x8)...the problem is the PCIex1 issue again. Anytime I get the FSB that high, I cannot seem to get my PCIe to stay at x16. I've tried incresing my PCIe, FSB, and MCH voltages all to max, and I set my PCIe speed to 105MHz manually, and that got my PCIe up to x2...but no matter what I do, I cannot seem to get PCIex16 with 450MHz FSB. Is there any difinitive answer to this PCIe speed issue???

Have you confirmed with a run of 3DMark 06 that the PERFORMANCE is actually dropping when you get 1x.
It might be that the system reports 1x by error whilst the graphic card actually works as it should. I mean that is the system IS running 1x you should get really really bad scores.
Make a comparison, first run everything at deafult and note the score, then make your system report 1x and then run the same benchmark again and note the score. Better or worse?

From my experience with this problem, it's a real performance drop, not just information report. Even scrolling a web page will feel slower (not smooth) compared to running 16x.

It definitely drops. I would get ~20FPS playing TF2 on my 8800GTS when 60FPS wouldn't be a problem at all with 16x. Makes any game unplayable on my 20" widescreen.

F9 final version for P35-DS3/R is out.
Is good, but the memory voltages are:
    BIOS 1.90V = 1.80V real
    BIOS 2.00V = 2.00V real
    BIOS 2.10V = 2.00V real
    BIOS 2.20V = 2.20V real

Anyone know new beta bios for P35-DS3?

I can across a problem during my system build. I was able to install windows xp pro fine in the beginning. However when I tried to install a second hard drive or add another stick of ram, the system will just keep on rebooting. I removed the second HD and extra stick of ram and cleared the CMOS and the problem still exists. Sometimes it will POST before rebooting, other times I can get into Windows before it will reboot, and then a majority of the time it will just keep on rebooting after a few seconds.

Computer specs are below. Only thing I have installed at the moment is the Vid card, HD, 1 stick of RAM, DVD Burner, Floppy drive. I have upgraded to the newest BIOS and manually set my ram voltage to 2.2V.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is or what is causing it to keep on rebooting?

    Thanks ahead of time.

i tried F7 and it totally screwed my overclock.
    i was able to boot 100% @ 450mhz and ram at 1125 5-5-5-15
but with F7 the P.O.S.T. failed at the ram test part.

i tried everything and nothing helped.
so i went back to F6

F7d also had my ram overclocking totally screwed up.
if the overclock failed the system wouldnt even post. it would turn on and just sit there.
and i had to swap ram around to all the slots and eventually it would boot with 1 stick.

frankly any bios related to F7 has been bad.

    i'm sticking with F6

    Lestat,

I've had good luck the past couple weeks with F8, it came right from a Gigabyte Rep. with no issues what so ever.

Are you using the 5:6 divider? I can't run RAM past 900mhz on the 5:6 diver, so I'm seeing where I can get on the 4:5 divider.

I do not even have to complete an entire run of 3DMark06, as soon as the first test begins, I can tell id it's at x16 or x1...because my framerates will either be in the 80s or the 30s respectively.

Correct, also, if you are attempting to play music while scrolling the webpage, the music stutters ALOT!

Just for the record, I still have not been able to get the PCIe x1 problem fixed at 450MHz FSB. Yesterday, I flashed to the newer F8 BIOS, it didn't help either.

    P35C Rev 1.1 Vdimm Question

I was trying to overclock my OCZ ram with the max voltage OCZ allows under warranty. just wanting to run 900 MHZ with 5-5-5-15 timings. i can do 850 100% stable but wanted to reach 450 fsb for a 3.6 ghz Overclock.

Anyways, i got bios F7 installed and i set the vdimm to 2.2 i reboot and in the bios it shows in the Health section that the vdimm is 2.38 to 2.4....rebutted to windows and speedfan shows the same. ok so i go down to +.3 and it shows 2.13 which is not far off. but on +.4 it shows 2.4 at one point and i was sad and pissed. is this something gigabyte will adjust? i wrote them an email about it and i'm waiting on reply. can anyone else set +.4 on bios and see what voltage it gives in actuality?

the cpu voltage does the same kind of thing just that it's not overvolting. in my case when Vcore is set to 1.35 it shows 1.30 in system health. F7 bios shows actual temps instead of OK or FAIL, no wonder Gigabyte was hiding the info...crappy voltage regulation. if this is not fixed i will have to get dd2-1066 that runs at 2.1 volts for sure.

anyone here running ddr2-1066 on a p35c board? give me some input please. i'm interested to see what volts you guys get and what 1066 ram you got to work on this board.

ps. it's still a decent board in my book...i got my e6750 at 3.4 ghz, 425 fsb and ram 1 to 1 and is orthos, prime, and games stable and passes memtest. i just know i could do more with 1066 ram but this voltages issue is ridiculous. has it gotten better since first bios or worst?

i did email gigabyte on those issues months ago n got stupid responses from someone that didnt know nothin about the board
    i run + 3 n get 2.24 i can do 4-4-4-10 @ 1050mhz 5-5-5-15@ 1226mhz
loosen subtimings if you want to use less volts @ +4 i get 2.38v
if you want more control over voltage mod your board
btw on load you gettin droop on vdimm volts?
