CPU speed is fluctuating like crazy by a half mhz in CPUZ with the 802 bios. I'm sure I saw it fluctuate even more earlier. 701 bios was much better.

Yes I have had plenty of boards that have fluctuated a little. But not to the extent that its really difficult to get the screen shot at the same speed. When I say it fluctuates like crazy, I mean, it REALLY fluctuates like crazy. FAR more than on the older bios'.

Anyone getting better than 55-56ns latencies?
@ sonicsallen, I use the same ver. of Everest, but odly, at different FSB'RAM ratios when running RAMBench, I get no reported info for memory bus, type & ratio. Everest lso reports the chipset as just Bearlake, not Bearlake-X or Beachwood as now named.
Do you guys think X48 is gonna' replace X38 in 3 months or just stand beside?

Thanks a lot for this! I just tried it with an FSB of 470 and it works without a problem. My temps are getting 73 stressed now, so tomorrow it's lapping time. I also get my coollaboratory thermal grease then. Let's see how it works then. Going up to 500!
One more question. I see a lot of people change the paste under the NB/SB heatsink for AS5. Do you use the regular AS or the adhesive?
Thanks again for new hope![]()

@ safan80, It's not looking like X48 mobos are gonna be DDR2, (points to DDR3 only) even if the chipset might or can support it. So for us on this mobo w/ X38, looks liek it's gonna' be the best overall stepping stone to X48 on DDR3 and hopefully, ICH10R by summer. X48 on DDR3 should hit shelves aong w/ Penryn release early next year.
I can't see any reason really other then better chipset power usage (lower watts, less heat , so more room to OC, but nothing exciting w/ todays quads unles using good DDR1800. With BIOS fixes coming, X38 will at least pass up P35 in terms of DDR2 overclockability. As DDR2 nears its end, we may see better performing DDR1200 to get us through the middle or end of next year.
I think that rev 2 of the MAXIMUS FORMULA may either be a DDR3 or X48 version. Who's heard anything about this other then from Clunks living review?

Ok then, I think most of my issues are memory related to why I can't get my E6550 upto 500FSB. I have been looking at Kingston HyperX 2gb 1200mhz (KHX9600D2K2/2G) but will these work on this board? I see other people have 1200mhz memory installed so I assume they will...

I haven't got to try an E6550 on this but I know of a friend who has one to 500FSB on a P5K. However, it did look like for them, 500 is the ceiling on FSB before it just hits that wall. My E6750 is showing that at 516 on both this mobo and P5K Deluxe as well a a P35C-DS3R.
Try the settings I posted above for other member but only tweak your vcore as needed to see if it at least restarts and POST to CMOS @ 500x7 or 6x You can try to adjust PLL to you get reported 1.642v and FSBT to 1.504v, keeping GTL Ref to 63x on CPU but try 67x on NB. I believe you might be able to get there just play round w/ it and for testing, try only w/ 1 set of RAMs in yellow slots for stability. We know X38, and this mobo for sure is good to 515FSB stable on 1.5v NB. Only those w/ E6850's are gonna' show what more FSB we can get out of it.
Let me know as I am curious if I can help get another E6550 to 500x7

OMG, I still can't get my system to POST, after I flashed to 802 BIOS.
System will just not go into POST (so I can't access the bios), and on the LCD POSTER it is locked on DET DRAM...
Has anyone ever had a problem like this?
I really need some help...

Thanks for those tips. So you think I should get 500fsb out of my current 800mhz memory? I just feel as if its the memory rather than anything else stopping me getting there. The new memory I originally quoted above is out of stock at my supplier but I can get some Kingston HyperX 2gb 1066mhz (KHX8500D2K2/2G) to me for tomorrow. Would this help or not?

I just called Scan to ask them what the actual Manufacturer Part number was for this V2 motherboard as the Scan info simply says:
Manufacturer code Maximus Formula SE
The guy said all the info they have is on the screen. I HATE websites that don't tell you the correct Manufacturer Code, you never know if your getting the correct model.![]()
He said the only changes were to the heatsinks to help make it more stable. I asked him why they were the only people with a V2 board and he never answered... Bit dodgy that!!!

I just mounted 2 80mm fans over my ram, just to give it a little bit of fresh air... The way I posititioned them meant the lower fans also blew slightly onto the NB...and just lowered the temps from 45*c+ to about 33*c!!!
I couldn't believe it...system hasn't been so stable as it is now! Feels much more responsive too!
Does anyone know where the PLL chip is for the FSB? Also, would sinking the 2 Phase vregs for the ram help out at all?
I was hoping for my NB temps to be lower than usual because I have 3 120mm fans on my sidepanel, but it's hard to reduce ambient temps when there are 5 HD's connected to my backplane
Sir Kup, how's the modding of the new BIOS coming along? although I'm not sure what on earth is better to use these days, every BIOS has different problems and I'm pretty stable with my setup at the moment. Maybe I should just wait another few months for the next release...
Someone on the ASUS VIP forum apparently posted up the changelog for the new BIOS, and it was the same as the last BIOS... so either ASUS are being vague/lazy or I would severley doubt the authenticity of the post.
