[UniHW] DFI 790FX M2R Review, King of AMD is back!

    all these from: Uni Hardware
    http://www.unihw.com/viewthread.php?tid=217

to me... DFI is the only option if i wanna spend my time and passion on AMD products
Let's take a look at their hot hot LP UT 790FX M2R

    similar package as P35 T2R/680i

    790FX chipset support ddr2-1066 ratio ?

    max volt.

    overclking test:

    350*10 DDR2-1166 4445 32m piece of cake

    367fsb, DDR2-1100 4435 done.
same chip, can do only 360fsb on MSI's RD780.

    feelings after 2hours testing:
    1) damn stable vcore, like a dead man's heart beat
    2) bios restore after overclking failure more better than DFI's intel mobo,
very smooth and flexiable during the whole overclking testing,
proved that DFI DO NEED MORE SUPPORT from INTEL to bring us good mobo like their AMD products.
    3) no DC Power loss after restart, well protect my watercooling system

I saw this board simillar to the p35 LP, with green pci & pci-e slots...strange...
Anyway, looks one of the best board to the am2+ at the moment (paired with the MSI one).Victor, did the digital PWM heat too much?
    Thanks in advance.

    790FX chipset support ddr2-1066 ratio ?
It does, but afaik it can only be enabled with a Phenom CPU.
Victor have you tried running 1066 with this 6000+?

another board that will get hyped to no end until all the bugs are discovered and dfi runs away from fixing the issues? yeah, no thanks. this cfx3200 board has left a sour taste in my mouth, as i'm sure intel icfx3200 owners and lp 680i can attest to as well, so i can honestly say, dfi can shove this board where the sun don't shine, i'd rather buy an ecs board... sorry to crash the party, but dfi's true nature has shined through quite a few times.

Now that is one slick mobo!!, thats defo the one for me if looks could kill!!

Layout is great... bollox for Quad Crossfire... Tri crossfire is more realistic!

    Expected price/ release date?

Hopefully this new line of mobo chipsets will give much better stabilty with lower heat output!

DFI might of given bad taste for their firm in past but that was with crappy chipsets... DFI/790FX combo u cant loose!! esp with Digital PVM!

Side note... is that copper or just painted alumium?... was plain alumnium before!! looks nicer tho

I must say you make valid points and their boards are way too expensive and their support crappy as can be (in Euroland).

It has something to do with UFO i think. Or most likely Oscar got drunk while naming bios setup menu entries.

By the specs in your sig I dont see what you're complaining about.

I agree the CFX3200-DR requires advanced tweaking abilities but the only real problem with the board are the auto-load overclocking profiles (disable them and the bios suddenly becomes 100% instead of 50%) and the SATA controllers (only when overclocked).

If you're having 3d stability issues with your rig drop your ram speed down, its quite common that Infineon CE/BE 5/6 chips (what you have) will lose 3D stability past ~245mhz but still be 2D stable... odd indeed.

    /OT

edit - i'm typing this on a CFX3200-DR system right now

All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
