Dont get too jelous yet. I cannot POST. I am stuck at the 7F error that apparently has to do with VGA. I have my GTX already looped up and really hate having to dismantle and take the 8800GTS from my HTPC to see if it is, in fact, the problem.

I have done all three types of clear CMOS and have tried 5 different sticks of RAM in varios slots on the mobo. I have tried just about everything I can think of.

I will have to wait untill after all the recording is finnished on the HTPC and see if a new vidcard fixes the prob. This sucks bigtime, but oh well.

7F Is video related and my experience with that is that it led a very brief life in this world and was sent for exchange to new egg for replacement but the odd thing is that I believe its Bios related with the shipping bios try flashing to 9/13/07 if you can if not its RMA time unfortunately!

    Thanks Esau.

Looks like my streak of bad luck continues. As funny as it sounds I had the best luck with the eVGA 680i I had.

Don't worry about it! Sucks for sure I had it happen to me but without a doubt this is the best Intel Board I have experienced since moving from my DFI Expert and I went through 7 boards to finally get something complete with Intel now thats frustrating!

cuhaos, I put in two new sticks of Ballistix, cleared CMOS, then rebooted. POSTed like a beauty Thanks!

Guess I'll have to RMA those spoiled sticks.. but the advantage of having 6 sticks of Ballistix in the house is you never have to go ramless :p

Ya it is for sure, but whining about it wont get me far LOL

I will do some more tests and then RMA it, if I have no luck.

Anybody think it is my Power Supply? I don't think it is, but would rather not totally tear apart my HTPc to test if I dont have too.

hey turtletrax, did you try the other card? how about a pci card? try holding down home while booting? try hitting the onboard reset button when it suspends on f7. because I have had this intermittently when i played with pci-e settings granted I never had it happen @ stock. and before you send it back try a different psu just in case. also worth a try would be some cheap ram 667 or above though the last few are just shots in the dark they still might save you a week of waiting for rma(if your lucky)

    Hey jimmy

I have not tried a new vidcard yet as the HTPC is recording till midnight

I will tear into the HTPC and give the above ideas a shot. I only have PC2-8000 and above on hand. I will have to run and buy a stick of cheap ass RAM for testing. I have been looking for a extremely cheap PCI vidcard to use for testing but I havent run into any. Anyone in Canada have a cheap on they dont need PM me

I will also try the home key trick and reset button when I get the other card in there. Thanks for all the ideas, they are appreciated.

I cant even get to the BIOS to flash. My monitor tries to turn on but goes to sleep before I ever get a display. It cycles on/Sleep twice before it hangs on F7.

    Will know more after midnight.

    Thanks for the help guys

To be quite honest I would be happier if my Mobo is dead rather than my GTX. I would have to RMA it to the states and that takes forever. I had about 4 botched eVGA RMA's and would love to not have another.

Might be a chance but not looking good.

Question Has anyone tried an Intel Xeon 3085 Dual Core CPU with this MB yet?

The reason I ask, is that I am considering ordering one. I know that this is a G0 stepping processor with a 3.0 GHz rating and 1333 MHz FSB. This is the same basic specifications as a Core 2 Duo E6850.

Server chips tend to be a bit more robust than their mass market cousins, and I am hoping the Intel Xeon X3085 processor will be a bit more overclockable than an average E6850, but only time will tell.

Given this processor fits in a 775 LGA just like a regular Core 2 Duo, and it is the desirable G0 version, does anyone see a problem running one of these on my DFI UT Lanparty P35 T2R motherboard?

Note that I can get this processor for $299 Canadian, which is about the same price as its E6850 counterpart.

It should work fine and I have never heard of any XEON 775 not working in these past few Intel/DFI boards.

It should run fine. But take note that it's mostly understood that nowadays there's very little difference between server and consumer CPUs of the same specs. Probably due to quality improvements across the board taking away the need to pick out chips specifically for servers.

Smile I going to order the Xeon X6085 tomorrow

Thanks for the feedback. Basically just reaffirmed what I thought. Given that this processor is CHEAPER for me than an E6850 and it is likely a higher binned version (server chips tend to be chosen a bit more carefully), it seems like a no brainer.

I have had reasonable success with my Q6600 B3 quads core chip (an 800 MHz overclock is nothing to complain about), as it is stable 24 hr Prime 95 on all 4 cores.

Unfortunately, my Q6600 is running pretty hot (63-65C under load in Core Temp), even though I added the Transpiper module to the PWM and upgraded from the Tuniq Tower 120 HSF to the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme HS and Scythe SFF-21F fan. I tried lapping the heatsink and CPU heat shield, and although this made my temperatures more uniform, they did little to reduce overall temperature levels.

My plan now is to max out the performance of the X6085 processor on air, and then buy parts to push it a bit via liquid cool for Christmas.

    I got it to POST!!!

I swapped to my GTS and added the floppy 4pin power conncetor and futz'd around for about half an hour and I got it to work. Now going to flash the BIOS and reloop to see if my 8800GTX is hooped or not. I dont hink so but who knows.

Thanks for all your help guys!!!

    Turtle

Edit: Looped up the GTX and it is fine. Really weird... I honestly think it was the 4 pin floppy connector that got me going

Awesome news, I am literally very happy for you. Nothing is worse than troublesome hardware, can bring down my whole frame of mind for days at a time. Take it slow and let the board burn in some before pushing it too hard to avoid further issues arising in the near future.

As for the floppy power connections on the board, I am not using either on this board though I did use them on my NF4 Ultra. Is there anyone not using them like myself with great results or is everyone in fact using them to obtain what they are in terms of clocks and stability. I have always believed they were for SLI/Crossfire based systems and were not needed for single video card use. The only reason I am not using them is due to them not being easily accessed with my slot blower under my video card as well as the HR-11 on the back of my 8800 and the TRUE taking up so much space. Just curious on others answers on this. My board is clocking alright but no where near what others are getting. I am wondering if it is because of these power connections not being utilized or something else.
