Why are people using 4- 1 gig sticks vs. 2- 2 gig sticks of RAM? Back in the day 2 sticks overclocked better than 4, reason for the question.

Yeah, "old technology"! How to place a time line on what components are new and for how long?

I really like the ASUS boards, rather keep with that IF I even updgrade to the P5K. This P5W has really been a rock for me, best rig ever of the several I have built over the years.

Only reason I have 4x1Gb is that they clock better than 2x2GB and they are dirt cheap considering they are micron D9's. I loved my P5W as well but when I bought a e6850 and the ballistix I decidid to get a P5K as it was getting good reviews on overclocking. and it seems more forgiving with the memory. I previously had some corsair XMS 6400 which jad promo chips - couldnt clock it past 800 on the P5W with the CPU at 400x9 - went straight in at 1000 on the P5K.
PS- dont use Asus update on these boards - can fail as I discovered which is why I now have a premium as an RMA replacement..
