weird issue... OCCT was stable for 4+ minutes, cpu was running 99%, but the temps seemed low. CT was saying 50 degrees at it's highest. i know that it would probably get a slight bit higher after running for awhile but it should be higher then that. probably around 55 or so i'm thinking. this leads me to believe that it's still not loading 100% for some reason.

kept the same settings as before except the vcore is now 1.54v and it loads 100% in prime and shortly after it starts the computer shutsdown and restarts. fyi. any ideas?

This is my max fsb suicide shot:

    Crucial Ballistix 4-4-4-12 910mhz 1:1

    454 is Pi stable...sometimes.

444 is the max fully stable fsb I have had with this board thus far.

Well I know with some motherboards the SATA controller isn't supported my Windows XP. I'm thinking that maybe the ones that came with this motherboard might be better then what XP can us.

    I posted this earlier today:
    _________________________________________
    Hi guys,

I don't know if this might be a SATA driver issue, but I notice that when installing XP it takes like 45 minutes to do the install. It seems to hang after it does the restart after formatting/copying files. And when I install Vista I notice it takes a long time to startup. Hangs for a long time on the blank screen before the vista logo. This has been like then sence I built the new system in my sig.

    Thanks
    Shawn

I'd like to get about 420 x 9 since I can't get 450 x 8 to work and I am having issues with 420 x 9 but I think it will be more doable than 450x8. Also, is the the bios setting for cpu pll or the actual bios reading?
Well that is the lowest CPU voltage stable. The NB Auto set to 1.65 so I set it to 1.63. The PLL is from the hardware monitor reading in the BIOS. I haven't tried lower on that yet.

Bios - Boot- boot settings config - wait for F1 if error disabled.

    That will fix it.

OK, 500*8 works just fine on this 6850. Ballistix set to 1201 5-5-5-18. Orthos stable. I am noticing I need less vCore for 4GHz when compared to my 680i. 4.1GHz is now attainable, but a significant jump in voltage is required. I rather prefer 500*8 with RAM at 1200 and a lower CPU voltage (1.48). Going to bench now and see how this old 7900GT holds up.

Are these DIMMs good for Maximus Formula?

    http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=329419

They've been tested to run with very tight timings 833MHz 3-3-3-9 and very high speed 1300MHz 5-5-5-15. They are based on Micron D9 chips.

Anyone here got experience with these modules?

Well it stops for about 1-2mins minutes after formatting the harddrive but it did that too with the install of my P35 P5Dlx mobo, no I didn't use the S-ata drivers of the cd, just Windows XP with SP2 integrated... I don't think it took 45 minutes to install max 30-35 minutes or so... I'll time it next time as i'm currently still testing the board on the testbench, once I put it into the rig I'll format the C partition again... and keep you updated on the that matter...

@393 : I'm currently running the dreaded Samsung HD's that seems to mess up the P5K premium a lot, no issues here mate...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

So if you were in my shoes would you go for another Premium or would you be recommending the Maximus Formula SE?

    Then again there's always the Abit IP35 Pro/ IX38 Q GT too....?

I just don't get how you do to get it to work. I connected my S-FLEX fan directly to the OPT_FAN 2 connector and then reduced the duty cycle all the way to 70% in the BIOS and the RPM didn't change at all..

By getting another premium you mean RMAing your current board ? if you buy another board I would go with the X38 (brand of your choice) , as it offers better support with 4 dimms, PCI2.0, twice 16X and I think better Penryn overclocking capabilities but that has to be seen in the upcoming weeks how it will perform...

For me this board is surely on par if not better (slightly better data transfer rates then my P5K Dlx) and runs alot cooler in the PWM area...and more settings to tweak...

    OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Reaper
    OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C5
    OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series

what would be the plus and negative points of 2Gb or 4GB there is the difference of 6400 to 9200 DDR2 specs but would Vista 32 be better with 4GB or would Vista 64 be MUCH better with 4GB?
if you actually want to use vista 64 get 4GB of ram. vista x64 loves memory! the best way you can get your answer is by running vista if you like the extra in it you'll want $4GB of ram.

    Hi there!
I got my mobo on wednesday, and have a problem with an X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro audio card, that doesn't work with the Maximus. I tried to run with the Supreme FX, after that I disabled it, but nothing happened with the X-Fi. The card is in the lower PCI slot, can't fit to the upper because of the VGA waterblock. Anyone has issues with X-Fi, or am I the only one lucky guy?

Just started to testing since my P5B wifi-Dlx stopped to 500fsb.
Now without any modifications max fsb reached 525fsb, next thin bolt some heavier cooling and testing more.
