Do you know when the NDA expires on the 780i chipset? Asus traditionally will not make an official announcement about a new product until all NDA conditions have been met.

Still having CPU INIT issues on mine, thinking of purchasing new memory and giving it a go.

Any experiences with memory that works flawlessly with this? Looking for ddr2 800

they run pretty smooth, I haven't OC them so kept them at 1000mhz 5-5-5-15 Command Rate 2T at 2.0 volts, run very fine with WinXP 64... and they aren't that darn expensive either ( about 210 euro's in Europe )

    new comer to the striker

hey guys i'm a new comer to the stiker had it for a month now up and running, finally got the 1303 bios yesterday and flash from the 1305 and now i can overclock, im now running a 1333fsbx9 for a 3ghz on my stock cooler which is good never thought it would have post and run stable, i now have to run through the voltage and see it i can drop it to reduce heat cause right now its at stock voltage. soon to get water cooling then going to try to pump the bad boy up. thanks for the 1303bios guys.

    system: striker extreme, Q6600 G0@3ghz, 2gb dominator@1066, 8800gts 320 super overclock, 22' acer,

oh does the pencil mod works fawless with the boards i was looking at some post on it but i am for less of a better word afraid to mess with the circuits on the board any insite.

Did you get your board back? If so, what did you get?

I am asking because I have to RMA mine. 100% my fault. Explained the situation to the good folks at the RMA department and they said they would take care of it anyway. Gotta love that! Just hate taking everything apart.

So I got the 2x2GB kit of Gskill, so far, I got what I paid for. This memory does not overclock well, as was stated in previous reviews on this site, I was however able to get the latencies to 4-5-4-12 @ 1000mhz on 2.25V. I am unwilling to leave it there though, I crunch, so my rig is 24/7 100% cpu load.

I have lost alot of D9's at that voltage crunching, even though these are not micron ic's, I am unwilling to push voltage. I am able to run 5-5-5-12 @ 1000mhz on 1.85V in the bios, so like 1.9 or so in reality. All the 680i's I have had overvolt the ram.

Having 2 dimms has not helped the crippled bios's we have at all for overclocking the cpu, I am where I have been for crunching 450x8. So overall, I am happy with the kit, I am happy to not have D9's in my rig, as I hope these will last longer than 3 months.

Good morning everyone. Okay I have read this thread from beginning to end and some great information. I have alot of questions but like to give everyone my setup.
    CPU: Intel Q6600
    Memory: Mushkin DDR2 1066
Motherboard: Asus Striker Extreme with Bios 1303
Video Card: 2x XFX 8800GTS 640Megs in SLI
Hard Drives: 4x Seagate Barracuda in Raid 0
DVD Drives: 2x Pioneer DVDRW Disk
MultiMedia: 62 in 1 Media Card reader
Power Supply: ThermalTake 700 Watt Pure Power 4 Rails.
The cpu is cooled by thermaltake big water cooling.

Okay I was only able to hit 1475 QDR on the CPU and all the settings I used linflas magic settings. I was not booting in 1700 and I found it stable at 1475. I have the multi set as 9 and LDT at 5. The voltage I backed off to 1.55 Volts for CPU since it ran stable. Anyone suggest reasons not able to hit 1700 and what temps are you guys getting at that FSB.

Did you keep the ram in sync with the FSB so 425FSB (1700) ram at 850 then or did you force to get 1066Mhz ? if so that doesn't work with me I need to keep it in line same for 450FSB needs 900 ram speed not 1000 nor 1066, it's due to a limitation of the 680i chipset bundled with a quad I think...with a dual core CPU I can fool around with the ramspeed as much as I want...

On a german forum found that 412 FSB also works so 1648FSB (also with 9 multi to get 3.7ghz), 1700 should be doable ( have you tried also with 8 multi to get 3.4ghz instead of keeping it locked at 9 multi) as many many users (on older boards too) have found this to be perfectly stable, 450FSB though is hit and miss...

    Alright new issue.

    CPU INIT is now flashing.

Boot sequence, cleared CMOS fully (IE left out overnight) put ram in slot 4, connected both VGA cards, connected 1 sata HD, 1 ide optical, went to boot PC and CPU INIT.

Turned off, turned back on, and now when I hit power CPU INIT is flashing?

Anyone seen this before or know what it means?

i know ther are many guides about this, but i have never found one tht contains all fixes or most of them, so i made this one, im a pc builder, and i have to deal with lots of strikers here so, i found this steps are the most reliable to fix the problem. plz ignore the bad english

    ok, follow this steps.
1.unplug the computer from the AC
    2. unplug from the mobo the ATX12v and the EATXPWR
3.remove the bios battery wait 30 secs {dont put it again)
    4. move clrcmos jumper to enable position {meaning jumper in pins 2-3}
    and wait 30 secs.
    5. press and HOLD the clrcmos switch for 30 secs then relase,{now clrcmos is clring the cmos} you are going to let the switch in tht position for 2 hrs.. this is very important or it wont work
    6. After 2 hrs, press the clrcmos switch to turn it off {dont change the clrcmos enable jumer to disable) leave it enable.
    7. connect only the next devices to your computer. 1 sata drive, 1 ide drive, 2 ddr2 dimms in blue slots, 1 video card. 1 striker extreme audio card. and 1 ps2 keyboard {usb wont do} and connect all pc fans
    8. recheck that nothing expet the hardware mention above is connected.
9.plug the atx12v and the eatxpower connector and pcie aux if needed
    10. put in the cmos battery
    11. connect your computer to the ac
    12. turn on the pc, and after 3 secs, your going to start hiting {del} in your keyboard, not to fast, 1 click per sec. do more and u will disable the keyboard.
    13. asumming the computer boots and enter the bios, go directly to your ram configuration and set voltage to memmory specification (ultra important!!) if you dont set correct voltage to your ram u will get cpu init again in next reboot
    14. boot and go to asus and download the new bios 1301 i think it is, and flash your bios. recheck memmory voltage has not been changed.

Actually that's exactly the info I got to get out of CPU INIT the first time

However before the LCD poster stayed completely solid. This time as soon as I hit power the LCD poster starts blinking (I think I poorly worded it the first time), which is behavior I've never seen before out of the dozens of CPU INIT issues I've had to deal with.

I went through and reseated everything, which was a PITA with all the water blocks.

Given that it's blinking, I'm wondering if the board is actually dead, or of it's some other obscure issue.

If the board is dead I could spring for another (don't want to waste these blocks) and pray for a newer revision.

When you said "...everything" it is probably safe to assume you removed and replaced the cpu as well? Should that not work...I'm not sure I can help. According to the thread I linked to many have overcome the cpu init problem.

I would suggest the method where it recommends that you leave the battery out for 12+ hours.

Hopefully that will help. I feel your pain as it sucks when hardware doesn't perform as expected.

Thanks for the help don't get me wrong. But that's the method I used to get the CPU INIT bug ay back long ago when I first got the board.

What's driving me bonkers is the flashing screen, which again I've never seen before.

I've beat this bug on my board many times, and on several friends build, but never hit that.

Might just be worth it to cut the losses and wait for 780i

I finally gave up with the FSB holes ,High heat output ,and high power consumption that is the 680i .
I went back to running a single 8800gtx and have since ditched my SLI setup,I have not looked back ,to be honest I am getting much higher OCs with my new board and smoother gameplay In World in conflict (DX10 @2560-1600 Res ,everything on max)than I got with SLI,I am thru with Nvidia.

Btw I ended up buying a GA-X38-DQ6 and my B3 stepping q6600 is loving me for it ,all the striker did was cause me grief,it was all good untill the Australian Warmer weather hit ,680i do not like Australian weather.

Leeghoofd thanks for the reply. I have left the ram at 850 and also tried to force it to 1066. I had another issue getting 4 sticks to run on windows vista 64 and BSOD. Of course Microsoft had a patch for this and that is all taken care of. For some reason on Bios 1303 I am stuck at 1500 on the CPU. Bios 1305 I can not even boot on that. I have the voltage at 1.65 and all the other voltages recommended in the beginning of this thread. I have cut back on the CPU voltage on the 1500 (375) that I have on the cpu. I also tried your suggestions and still no go.
