Just now, I searched for other instructions and see the Official AS5 ones with the line up the center, but my tube of AS5 has started spitting out clear fluid along with the good stuff so I may have to get a new tube.
If you have a clean disposable surface to work with, you might squirt out what you can and mix it up, then carefully apply it in a line like AS recommends. I would think a small rice-sized squirt like we did on the AMD CPUs would not be enough to fully cover the core on these Intel chips.

What program are you using to monitor CPU temps?

Core Temp. The version I just got is the one displaying the two temps in the tray in my pictures. The author didn't get back to me on my question about displaying 8 temps for an octal-core, though...

And you're temps are fine. Although they seem to point to a little too much vcore, but every CPU is different.
I was using Auto vCore up until this last month when I set it to 1.325V, but it still bounces around underneath that anyway. I don't see why they have Auto and specific settings if the specific ones aren't either max or min volts: if I set 1.325 I expect 1.325. Just letting it bounce around anyway seems lame.

I didn't get 3Ghz but I'm OK. Bumping up to 4GB RAM has cost me some RAM speed when 6400 causes the PC to lock up (I have to remove RAM to just change BIOS settings back), but 4800 hasn't looked awful.

The real work will come when I get my next CPU (best 45nm 4-core I can afford since 8-core sounds like a 2-year wait for good price), so I'll stick with what I've got for now...

I was using SpeedFan to monitor mine (CPU reading, not Core 1 or Core 2). If you'd like, try running that and see how your numbers compare. I'm at school ATM, but I might try Core Temp later on.

My question is what is the most stable bios out of all of these that would maintain my 3.2 gigahertz overclock of my core 2 duo 6400 and also be stable with no bugs? Or hopefully allow me to push to a higher overclock if possible. I'm using OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB DDR800 PC6400 ram. It wont boot even if i go one megahertz past 400, so yeah. Can anyone please lend a helping hand?

EDIT: just tried the 2004 mod bios, booted up ran load setup defaults, did not clear cmos though, but still runs great. I went into bios set up my overclock options and it runs awesome, all i gotta do now is run it with games and see if it solved the problem, vista needs a lot of work.

What is memory remap feature and what is better for OCing disabled or enabled. what is dram throttling too? do i need it? and what about the CPU thermal control what would that do if i disabled it. sorry for all the questions guys its just i always wondered if i really needed these options or not and what they did.
I'm in the EXACT same situation as you. I've had 1503 running for a LONG time now (since it came out) with a nice stable E6600 @ 3.4/3.6GHz OC. I don't wanna mess that up, but I'm going to be installing Vista x64 this weekend and want to make my box is "ready."

Should I just stick wih 1503?

    Why not try it first?

If you get problems use 1707 or official 2004.

    My adventure with this motherboard:

I have this motherboard with the below setup for over a year now. The CPU is overclock to 3GHz and fully stable (with increase NB voltage, but I don’t remember by how much offhand).

One day (few months ago) my system was acting weird so I open it up to see what was wrong with it. Turn out one of the hooks that hold the NB cooler in place had completely broken off and cooler was just dangling there and not making contact with the chip. I superglued the hook back on, but it was too weak to hold the CL-C0034 in place, so I had to put the original NB cooler back on.

Few weeks after that the top PCIEx16 slot malfunctioned, so I had to move my video card (Sapphire Radeon X1900 XT 512MB) to the bottom slot, but not long after the video card died completely (tested with 3 different systems and monitors).

Bought a 7600GT to replace and just few days ago the 7600GT is also dead. Now here’s a nub question: can overclocking the CPU with increase NB voltage kill or shorten the lifespan of video cards? The video cards were not overclocked.

It's either that this mobo is shortening the lifespan of the graphic cards I put in it or I am just very unlucky.

I'm about to buy the 88000GT and now I'm unsure about putting it in this MB. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Hah, welcome to the club.

Was the chipset cooler touching the graphics card? Mine was lieing on my 7900GTO but didn't do any damage thank god..

It was resting on the graphic card, but the card didn't died until much later. I guess the odds had caught up to me, I never once had a graphic card failed on me, and then two cards failed within a month of each other. At least my 7600GT is still cover by warranty.

I just ordered a Q6600 GO to update my year old PW5 DH.
I spent some time reading this thread from 9-1-07 to present-

What I wanted help with is this:

Should I flash to new BIOS before I install the Q6600? (using 1503 now)

I decided to use 2004 (Larrywild's-BIOS) until just reading about an "Official" 2004 BIOS-- Which one?

I have an older P5W-- Revision 1.02G. All components to remain the same as well as XP.
Yes I intend to overclock but do not expect to hit 3.6 as with the E6600.

    Appreciate input.

It will POST OK but you will get the CPU microcode error which was happened in my setup, just flash to the next BIOS and you are good to go.

Yea, It will work like that but seeing as he already has an E6600, I would say flash before installing the Q6600.

    OK
    Thanks.
I hope the BIOS elements are similar to what I have in 1503- meaning not too many new and different settings to adjust.
