ah k cool so I guess I should enable it. I was just playing bf2 and got dropped from server b/c of "Unknown Windows API Function". Think it could be b/c of vcore droop on load?

Problem by board keeps asking for a password to enter BIOS, even though none is set, I can not seem to locate a way to tell it not to ask for either BIOS or Normal, I see no option to never ask and its annoying to have to press enter (as there is no set password) ever time I want to get into BIOS. Any idea why this is happening as I have not setup security or even when to the option before it occured?

    Thanks,
    ERIC

please try "load optimized defaults" from bios, and then configure pc as you wish. If this does not work...well...seems you got a setting stuck in bios no matter what you change...like I did...I had to force the board a bad overclock to get "CMOS CHECKSUM BAD" before settings I set in bios started to really stick.

I don't know if it's related, but might be. The board reseting to "default" clocks after setting bad settings that would not allow boot was not enough in my case.

Anyway, always best when you first get a board to "LOAD OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS", befoer doing absolutely anything, and doing the same after flashing a fresh bios is a damn good idea too.

Asus tech support is terrible. You wouldn't believe what they tell people who come in to buy video cards/motherboards. Nothing but problems. :p

same old issues, but now its worse, still no 400fsb, far from stable

hopefully the e6600 will do better

B3 quads do not like 400 fsb for some reason, try 425x8 or something.

Hey guys I'm running into some problems here... What kinda voltages should I be throwing at my q6600 B3 to get 450fsb and 1066mhz-ish on the memory? Any help on the voltages for CPU PLL, SB, and NB would be very useful too. Been out of the game for awhile in laptop land and don't have much experience overclocking core 2 duos let alone quads on a new mobo.

What BIOS are you on, any problems clocking on Maximus is largely due to the infancy of the BIOS.

I see in your signature that you reseated your heatpipes with thermal compound. How did you know that your heatpipes needed reseating? Was it easy to remove the heatpipes?

GAR, my friend, got the memory, thanks.

Second: where did you see any new revision?

I just got my Maximus today but haven't had a chance even to start with my new config - WC is a pain when you have to rebuild your system: first bleed out the water into some bucket, then start taking it apart, when you're done (long time when you have so many blocks like I do) then you can start with the actual PC.... PITA!

Anyway, I'll have some time to build it on Friday so I can do some testing during the upcoming weekend... we'll see I can hit the 4 gig mark or not...

What's the latest firmware and what should I pay special attention to?

PS: never mind, realized 505 is still the latest...

    Maximus Formula BIOS 0505
    1. Add new CPU uCode to support new processors
    2. Revise wording used in BIOS
    3. Adjust NB Voltage max to 1.85V
    4. Enhance DDRII-1200 memory compatibility
    5. Finetune Loadline Calibration control code
    6. Add LCD Poster Mode item

I normally dont trust anythings application of TIM... not to mention I like to make sure everything is right....Heatpipes took a lil to get them off.

    On a side note.... Maximus at 2.18v DDR2 900 4-4-4-10 ate 1 stick of my Dominator 6400C3DF

Can anyone confirm the voltage readings this board is giving?
