    Erm who said that.

PCI Express 2.0 is backwards compatible with PCI Express 1.0
The performance of a 8800GT on a PCI Express 2.0 board will be exactly the same with a PCI Express 1.0 board.

Good to know. I am waiting for EVGA to release this monster mid-range card to replace my 7900GTO.

I think it may be adverstised as PCIe 2.0 compliant (to take advantage of the newer bus-specification), but as BenchZowner pointed out, PCIe 2.0 is backward-compatible with PCIe 1.
