I highly doubt its 4.2Ghz, it would take a lot of extra voltage to boot at 4.2Ghz vs 3.8Ghz, more than enough voltage that you wouldn't have given it enough extra to even be possible.
But what i would really be questioning is that the FSB speeds from CPUZ(475) vs CoreTemp(534) are way different but both are reporting a 8x multi.
Who knows, see what your fsb in your bios says and go with whats reporting correctly.
well my bios says 475 x 8... but if you multiply 475 x 9 it will give you the 4.2 that windows is posting... So that is the case. is like a related mult problem xDD.
CPU-Z has the correct read.
Windows and Core Temp both do not read the clock speed correctly. 99.9 percent of the time, CPU-Z is always right.
BIOS is the first read. I'd trust CPU-Z over any other program followed by Everest.

This is a known issue with C2D chips. If you use anything other than the stock multi, Orhtos, windows, Core Temp, etc will read it wrong. CPUz and Everest read correctly however. This is not a bug related to the mobo.
