If i'm not mistaken the new bios is a microcode update that is needed for the penryn to function properly. i would flash if i were you. I am using it and it is fine so far. no issues.

I got a single Floppy but it has all the drivers on there...ICH9R and JMicron.

    Ran RAID flawlessly since install.

Last night I swapped the DFI to the lesser PSU and Raptor in the TekTray and set up the Yorkster on the BMF set up and just now got around to hooking the DFI back up...

Thanks jimmyz. I just got that from Brother and will get right on it

    Unhappy C1

    Yep

I'd read about it...and now I know about it.

It's a very strange thing IMO...

Cleared CMOS installed XP restarted Hung no POST

no POST, no monitor...just C1 code.

On starting from powering up I get 88 C1 25 26 then it shuts down and restarts automatically and I get C1 and that's it...

The only hardware I have changed is the Hard-Drive. I've tried three other hard drives.

I have had that exact scenario happen before once or twice. I turned off the PSU for about 30 seconds, then powered back up and away she went. You've probably already tried that though.

CyberDruid , Try 1 stick of low voltage ram, after c-mos clear prefferably something with 667 spd works best for me. (i've had the c1 errortoo many times to count on this and the r600 board and neither one persisted after i swap to cheap ram to get into bios.) currently i use 4 x512 mb sticks and they never give me any issues since they boot at low voltage.

BTW I was able to get into BIOS...

the issue is hanging after POST...it just hangs..cursor blinking away

I tried 4 x 51 of G Skill 1.8V and got the exact same issue.

I can get into BIOS...but no matter what settings I try it make no difference...still hangs after POST...

still with the yorky? so it is stopping on 96 or is it making it to FF? FF is attempt to boot iirc. i used to get a hang on boot on the r600 and if i raised the n/b voltage it would work the next try. did you flash the bios yet? if so you didn't use the yorky did you?
alot of times when i push ram too hard i get 88 or C1 on reboot but like the other person posted shutting off psu for 30 seconds or so fixes it most times.
i've gotta think it is the 45nm messing with it not the board.

No Yorkie yet, I only changed the HDD..not the CPU yet.

I was getting ready to when I encountered the issue..

Good idea about the NB volts. I will give that a try right now.

But just in case I contacted MotherboardPro about getting a replacement.

Thanks for posting up your setting Brother...that will come in handy in a few minutes

Trying to revive the booard one more time. So weird how it will load an OS...but will not boot to an OS..

If I set it to boot from CD it does...

Ordered an Asus Maximus X38 to hold me over while I wait for the RMA on this loverly board to take place...

Unless I get lucky and don't have to RMA at all....

NB is 1.57V and VTT is 1.55V as set in BIOS. Measured Voltage is NB - 1.570 and VTT - 1.547. Everest under reports these values. And your right. No matter how long Prime is run it never really proves stability.

I'm having great success with these new Crucial Ballistix 8500's. First thing i noticed is that all 4 were able to post from defaults which was a nice change over the mushkin stuff

currently have the 4x1gb modules running at 1112mhz at 2.1v, still needs some more tweaking though, havent played with fine delay with these yet

Edit: oh and timings only at 5-5-5-15 atm

    Yay...managed to revive the board.

Found a Raptor and plugged that in the Jmicron header along with the SATA DVD and it is now booting like nothing ever happened...

    Weirdness.

And it is FAST. Boots about instantly...love it.

Here's a weird one..... When installing XP, if I select the ICH9R SCSI drivers off of the floppy, Windows doesn't reconize any drives. However, if I select the ICH8R/ICH9R drivers (further down on the list), everything seems to work just fine.

Correct. Same if I make the mistake of thinking somehow AHCI will work in Vista...

I found RAID worked well on the ICH9R for me.

Currently using the Jmicron for a single Raptor...could not get the ICH9R controller to act right for some reason.

VERY HAPPY to have my DFI back up...the few hours it was down seemed very long

I agree, this board is awesome..... and it's the best one I have ever setup. Currently at 4GHz with a e6850 running the FSB at 500MHz, and it's rock solid.

The only problem I have encountered was when I setup the two 150G Raptors for RAID0 under the older BIOS, I would get an array error after defragging the array with diskeeper. The Array would still work, but I would see the error every time it booted up. I haven't tried it with the 9/13 bios yet.

I think I will probably get the Areca ARC-1210 RAID controller board to run the two arrays. I just need to know the length of the board to be sure it doesn't bump into the Southbridge water block.

    Cheers!

    Oops EDIT

It overhangs the PCIe slot about an inch and a half--so it will hang over the cooler on the second slot.

Is it safe to keep the NB core & VTT at 1.5v for 24/7 use?

would say yes if you plan to go little bit more extreme with the voltages i would recommend that you put some active coolin for the NB heatsink
