first off, if your using a fan with a 4pin header then leave the setting "CPU FAN Type" at default (4pin) otherwise change it to 3pin.

FanEQ Target Temp is just that, what temp do you want the fan to start kicking in, ie. i set mine to 45C.

FanEQ Temp. Tolerance is range around the Target Temp, ie. mine is set to 5C. so within 5C of 45C, the fan will start to spin faster and once temp reaches 45C, fan will be spinning its max depend on the Start Control setting.

FanEQ Start Control is what % of the fan you want it to spin at when it reaches the Target Temp, ie. mine is set to 100%

FanEQ Stop Control is what % of the fan you want it to spin when its out of the Tolerance range, ie. min is set to 60%. so when you setting idle, your fans are spinning slower = less noise.

fyi: i have a low speed yate loon as my cpu fan.

the manual doesn't do a good job of explaining it so i hope this helps.

    I've booted this one @ up to 4.0GHz with a Q6600 G-0 on air.

The only thing I've needed to increase on the board itself for stability @ 3.8GHz is CPU VTT voltage. That is critical. NB and SB are stock. I am on a 9x multi. Ram is @ 2.20v and vcore @ 1.54v.

I am currently running Vista x64 with 4 x 1Gb. Also this is the only mobo I've owned that correctly initializes with my GTX after a restart, or that is I don't have to turn my monitor off and back on to get a signal.

I originally got the board because it was so cheap and I wanted to try a P35 motherboard before possibly moving to X38. Not to mention I was sick of being stuck @ 390 x 9 with my Q6600 G-0 on i975x. I may eventually move to X38 and right now I don't feel compelled to do so. If you need more than 4 Sata ports or want to RAID, look elsewhere.

How you are all getting such high clocks with a quad with that board? When I had it... I remember settings 3.6GHz, and within 2 minutes the PWM sensor read 100C and my computer reboot.

Thanks alot for your time and effort explaining, that was very helpful in someways. just to give an idea I'm running a 120 areocool turbine xtreme 3pin, it taps out at 1800rpm,
    Sysfan AN1 = Areocool
Auxf AN2 = Hard drive fan

I tried the settings you recommend but had no luck, same settings, i even tried other different combination with same results, both fans still spins at max RPM.
Oh by the way i am using the Beta Bios.

    i'm using bios 11

i don't have AbitEQ running on startup. for some reason it doesn't detect the bios fan settings so i don't even use it. so that might be it, don't know if you have it running at startup.

what's the week code for your e6750? the more recent ones seem to be ok. but some of the earlier ones absolutely sucked. so if you're hitting a wall real prematurely seemingly, that could be why.

Running ip-35e, and Q6600 G0. Seems ok 24/7 @ 3.1 GHz (344 fsb) 1.35 v and stock Intel heatsink for cooling. New Xilence 550 w PSU only came with 4 pin ATX12v connector, so this may be limiting my max fsb (395).

hows the vdroop with your quad? and yes, your psu might be your limiting factor.

I'm looking at modifying the BIOS right now with modbin. The board look solid--I have one sitting on its box (with an E2140 and a Scythe Infinity on it). I'm waiting to get RAM and a graphics card before I actually run.

Current limits are as follows for voltage...

    DDR2 voltage: 1.8V - 3.2V
    CPU VTT voltage: 1.2V - 1.575V
    ICH 1.5V voltage: 1.5V - 2.0V
    MCH 1.2V voltage: 1.25V - 2.05V
    CPU GTLREF: 61.5% - 63.0% - 65.0% - 67.0%

Also, according to the latest 1.2 BIOS, you should have full access to RAM timings.

that's why its the first BIOS i'll look at modding. Unfortunately I have a stock intel board that I'm too lazy to find a .bin BIOS for. Anyways--I'll seriously look into getting a more-versatile BIOS (that, or sell crippled-BIOS computers).

Big vdroop, but 3 GHz is enough for me, power requirements and heat grow with the square of voltage. After playing around with GTLREF and major NB volt increases, I have still not been able to get 400+ fsb, although it did post at 414 even running me @ 1:1 which should give 1333 strap.
I wouldn't mind running higher fsb with the 3 ghz quad. On the plus side, Adata 1066 memory works well in this board, tight timings (not CAS!) 1110 MHz 1T command and performance level 5 set by default. Never could get better than 1030 MHz perf level 9 on the gig 965-ds3 rev 1 with same Adata.

I did notice that the PWM (?) or whatever is under that heatsink towards the edge of the board gets pretty warm. The board gives off a fair bit of heat, my Gigabyte DS3 runs cooler at 425 fsb.
