I'm curious of which prices you are going on and whether you included the costs of the fan? MSRP, quick search of Newegg? etc. Because I think for example the CM Gemin II wouldn't really be fair because you can get it for like $2 After Rebate which should pretty much outperform everything in that price bracket![]()
Spawne-
Excellent work.![]()
I have a request- Please Please Please try and get an ultima90 and test it.![]()
I want to know if the TR Ultra120 Extreme really shines with a 75-85cfm odd and higher cfm fan.![]()
Else the cheaper and lighter ultima90 is a no brainer for me.![]()
My friend was using an Ultra120 Extreme with a SFlex 63cfm fan on his E4300 at 3Ghz but was feeling uneasy because of the weight and the cantilever stress.
He got an Ultima90 with a 92mm 48cfm Panaflo M1BX for trial and he is getting the same temps he had with the TRUE120.![]()
So he sold his TRUE120 and is using the ultima90.![]()
Now i am getting this feeling that the ultima might match the TRUE at OCes upto 3-3.6Ghz and the TRUE only pulls away at a clock speed higher than that with a high cfm fan.
(3.6Ghz is kinda the max OC on E6600/E6750/Q6600 most have for 24x7 use- especially considering the high ambient tem[ps here in India.)
Now i am confused, if to get
Ultima90+92mm Panaflo 56cfm H1BX fan (Delta Triblade 92x38 79cfm for benchies)
OR
TR Ultra120 Extreme with Panaflo 120x38 85cfm fan.
Will be playing with various chips - E4300, E6600, E6750, Q6600 'G0'.![]()
Please help me decide.![]()
I don't have a pc coz i don't know how to OC
Spawne32 Nice work, looking forward to more of your results.
Spawne I have a question for you, what fin material would dissipate heat faster Aluminum, copper, Stirling silver, or fine silver? I am pondering the idea of making a heat sink with fine Silver base, Stirling silver heat pipes, and not sure on the fin material any ideas from you would be helpful. I have found out that the Stirling heat pipes are more expensive that the pure silver, and that the Stirling sheet for the fin material is very expensive, I got a quote for 20 pcs of 3" X 2" 20Guage Stirling silver material for the fins and amazingly the price was quoted @ $255.00 USD
dfi 680 & 965,6700's, 8800gtx, x1900xtx, ga 45-ud3p, 8400, x3440 tp55,9800gtx+
II X2 555 & ta790gx?
Personally id go with the copper, silver quite frankly could be very hard to work with, as well as the price.

lol its no problem, quite frankly thats a little beyond me, i know silver has better heat transfer then copper, but i dont know much else beyond that. I talked to vapor about it and he said its a soft metal to work with and how much it can dissipate heat he doesnt really know.
ey Spawne, i'm using 2x Silverstone fans with my Thermalright HR-01 Plus & it's working great! used these 2 on my TRUE & it dropped my temps to almost water-cool temps! I love these fans!![]()
Which Silverstone fans are you using on the HR-01+?
@Spawne32: i just checked Enzotech's website ( http://www.enzotechnology.com/air_cooling.htm ) & the Ultra-X isn't there anymore...could they have discontinued it?
& does Thermalright sell the IFX-14's backplate separately?![]()

Interesting. Seeing the numbers, I'm still happy with my Scythe Infinity that I bought a month ago. Maybe it will do well with a Q6600 in the future.

Any news on the Intel stock HSF review ?![]()
Great ! How many versions you got there ? Copper or Al core one ?
im interested to see this little heatsink from rosewill, its a low profile cooler, looks like it will perform well, even better if it was lapped with a sanyo denki on itmight do some modifications later on it and see what i can get after the initial tests are done.
Those fans are a complete mismatch for that HSF....heck, one FM-series fan on that HSF is way past its design. Just wondering if you've tried taking a fan off and/or undervolting to see how much you can lower the noise (significantly) while maybe losing 1C (if that).
Spawne...what's the low-pro Rosewill?
