Nope, I agree with AstroCreep...boards are def different.
New-b on post #3075 shows the whole area here is different.
The caps being a different size would not warrant a Revision Change.

It is normal for board manufacturers to change the Version Number by a decimal place when there are changes made to the board layout. If they change a surface mounted component, they usually leave the Version number alone & attatch a sticker with a Letter to denote the change. In this case, version 1.1 only has 3 Resistors which means a change in PCB, hence the change in Revision number.

Anyone know why they made this change??

Yes, I would assume so. I have 6 pairs of Ballistix, including Tracers and all of them work fine. I don't have this one but 99% bet it's all the same.

i see what you are talking about in resistors in that area but all this could be is refinement..or..just that parts used before are not available or to expensive.

so...what is suppose to be the performance difference between the two boards

i think you are making more out of this than is necessary...changes are made all the time...most times it is done to rectify a grossly inadequate performance issue, vis-a-vis, EVGA's 680i board was horrible for their 1st release...their revision help rectify the 1st release.

the IP35 Pro is an excellent board right from the get-go...the only thing that might be needed to be tweaked is the Vdrop & droop....lets hope that is what the revision is about.

You could be right, I didn't read the whole discussion… Yet slapping the board and mem around with voltage and cooling to achieve nothing positive, hardly makes sense.

my point!...parts are changed out because of cost factor....a lot of these parts rely on oil (chemical derivative from oil) and since the price for a barrel of oil is shooting up there to $88, it makes sense that abit has to change parts vendor.

heh was about to post the news on the revision, looks like yall beat me too it.

anyone have one of these new ones? from what i see its a mild change with a few caps. Wonder if droop is somewhat better+ better 4g stability.

someone post up if they pick one up

Congratulations 1st I've seen over 600mhz for ddr on the board. How many volts did you throw at the mch, cpu vvt and ddr2? Did you run memtest86+ with that memory setting?

A friend @ ABIT did clear things up about new REV 1.1, its better clocking [may be due to Clockgen] and few minor enhancements to stablize and get better performance

Thanks, I've tried those but my board just won't go over ddr1186. Your's wouldn't happen to be a v1.1?

Yes!!!. I just successfully routed a micro NTC thermistor from Mcshane thermistors between the 775 pins and directly under my 6850 making contact with the bottom of the cpu. It's accurate to +/- 1.0c. Just as I suspected, despite this talk of T-Junction, Coretemp .94 is correct at load temps (within 2c) and Uguru was always incorrect reporting almost 10c higher.
Although both Uguru and bios seem to be right on when not at full load. Right now under Orthos, the probe is reporting 70.1c with Cortemp at 71c and Uguru at 77c .
The response rate is of corse slower because it's not actally touching the die and heat has to disperse under the cpu first. Seems to be about a 1 minute lag up to 65c from coretemp and slightly longer after that. But even above 65c, its usually very close to coretemp. I need to check more to check the rise temp against fall temps and baselines to see the full scale of it.
