I want to ask a dumb question... does the Sapphire XT BIOS work for all Pros or must the BIOS be from the same vendor as the card?
If so, could someone hook me up with a Powercolor XT BIOS?

You find it at Techpowerup - 'vgabios' or something like that (it's a database).

No I think he means which BIOS did you use from there. There are two for 2900 XT. That it gave you 1.2 is news...

I'm pretty certain you're the first with a 512 to report a voltage boost after flash...

Good question, I guess I would just monitor temps. Hell this thing isn't set to go to 100% fan speed til it's practically incinerating.

Using ATI Tool? It works for me, just buggy.

ATITool is not good, everey time if you set the clockspeed it set def. Voltage too

i do a vmod and use now 1.25v def. (2D @ 0.90v)

That's for sure. But I'm stuck using software and am thus looking for alternatives to ATI Tool.

As well as doing that, I also added a BIOS file for flashing your 1GB Pro's to XT as well. I also added some more BIOS files to the BIOS page (1GB and 512MB XT BIOS' are now on there, as well as 1GB and 512MB Pro BIOS' in case you'd like to flash back).

vGPU will not change with other Bios!

Besides I just asked for a BIOS from card running @1.2V I simply want to compare binary files and try some other things. Also few selected overclockers have access to OCed BIOSes with higher voltages and frequencies, so I would strongly suggest that vGPU will change with proper BIOS!

BTW nice MOD! Very clean and simple!
PS. My card can't work properly @0.9V/512MHz

Saving this file for potential future use. Knew all along I might sell this 1GB after the next gen cards 'settle in' come December. Mb I end up w/ a Sapphire 2900 Pro 512 (if I can find one)

So I got the HIS today. So far my results have been kinda crappy. not sure if its my settings or because i'm running on Vista. In 3dmark 06 i got 8429 stock. I attemped to overclock the card in vista and i just couldn't get the clocks to change. 3d mark scores were identical after each clock increase.

So i flashed to the XT bios, vista picks it up no problem and gpu z is showing an XT. I run 3dMark06 again, this time i get 8424.

I don't get it. Is it a Vista issue or i have some settings that are screwed up.

Xeon 3060@3.5
P5b dlx
his 2900pro @ Xt bios
corsair 620hx

Anybody have any ideas?

EDIT: Its almost like the card isn't switching to 3d clocks.

Allright well this is OT but I just hit 865 vram use in Oblivion...hardly definitive of anything...just sayin...

UPDATE: Yeah, surprising. Only 2xAA Narrow-Tent/8x Antistropic too. Though the only other setting not maxed was int and ext shadows (at half) I do have all the high-res texture mods and a bunch of content-adding mods like Martigens so there's always a helluva lot going on in the world/on screen at any given time, but still. And hot damn it looks unbelievable!

I thought Dirt was bad for using just over 512MB... but 865... wow..

im in search for good performing card, but with low power envelope...
is it possible to flash this card, or set it through software, to set some ultra-brutal-low 2D Vcore and freq, and high Vcore and freq for 3D??

ooh, and i forgot, whats the hole spacing around core on these cards? i plan wc-ing it if i buy it

Hole spacing is approx 72mm, measured diagonally. I think thats the same as the 1x00 cards. My Maze 4 fitted right in.

Be adviced - the shim around the core is slightly higher then the core it self.

Yesterday i installed mine , Sapphire 2900 pro 512mb <- stock cool 30&#37;@fan from riva tuner. [asus p5b deluxe 0711 bios , c2d 6600 , 2X1g d9gmh , vista ultimate 64 , 7.10 catalysts] ,

Didnt try to overclock yet , just hit from riva tuner 840c@1000ddr3 and playing 1-2 hours css & ut3 without problems , Very good card with no problems at all with the cats.

Today ill search it to find her limits with the stock cool

edit. The stock cool is very good too , at 25% is totaly silenced , & at 30-35% is just a quiet aircool ,

Does anyone know if this card is expected to be more or less powerful than the 2950 we are expecting next month?

I'm very tempted to pick one of these up, but I'm not sure if I should wait just a few more weeks for the next
mid-rangers.

2950 will probably be more powerfull then PRO and XT i guess.

As you can see the 512bit bus is not really effective, and on high memory speeds you cant see performance improve. An 256bit bus will probably about the same performance as the 512bit bus, but will be much cheaper to produce. If the final specs of the 2950 will be 825core, 2400mhz mem, then i'm sure the 2950 will be more powerfull.

They should be about the same in performance, but the 2950 supports dx 10.1 and sm 4.1, so if u can wait id pick up the 2950.

e: according to ownage's graph it seem to be faster, and hopefully problems with aa/af are fixed.
