    New 120x120x38mm Fans from Scythe

    http://www.techpowerup.com/?42121
Scythe announced today three new sleeve bearing Ultra Kaze 120mm case fans. Unlike the common fans with 25mm thickness, the new Ultra Kaze 120 fans come with 38mm thikness. The slowest model (DFS123812L-1000) has the following specifications: 1000RPM, 19,81dBA and 44,44CFM. Furthermore, it is designed for silent operation in a PC system. Other models of Ultra Kaze 120 - DFS123812L-2000 and DFS123812H-3000 - aim for enthusiasts who are seeking high performance and high airflow for their PCs.
I just ordered this one so I'll see how it works.

Sounds good. Perhaps we have some new enthusiast winner fans here. Would have been nice with some 1500 and 2500rpm versions too perhaps.

I would never buy a sleeve bearing fan. The MTF is very low compared to double ball bearing fans.

I have a supplier of JMC 120mm fans at 12V is around 130cfm at 3000RPM and at 5V around 65CFM with little to no noise. There all double ball bearing fans and I have one in a case thats been running 24/7 for 7 years at 5V and in great shape and only cost me $7 each.

Forgot to mention I picked up the fan from AeroCooler.com. I've never dealt with them before but I guess there's a first time for everything. I did receive my confirmation email telling me that my order was placed. I have no idea when it will get here though.
I was about to buy a Scythe S-Flex fan then I saw this headline and jumped on it. As a bonus they are cheaper than the S-Flex fans I've seen at different sites.

Funny, I have a hard time buying fans with anything besides sleeve bearing fans

Generally ball bearing fans are just too loud.

I have an AMD 64 3500? I think, non X2, with stock HSF, and its louder than the panaflos.
Just put a little 98cfm sunon on a TR HS to see if it would help..

Ah, the great bearing debate pops up again. Sleeve bearings are quieter in the right orientation, vertical, but they don't last as long. Ball bearings last longer and aren't as directional, but they can be louder.

I think they're getting better though, Panaflo has their wonderful hydro-wave bearings which have the benefits of both. All sorts of high-tech bearings out there now.

One of the bearings I like that is new is the ceramic bearings. The bad thing is the price.

How do you guys thing that these will compare to the San Ace 1011s? Nine bucks is a lot cheaper than the 20 bucks I payed for each of my Ace's.

If they hold up, sign me up for these as internal case fans.

Gotta like the price. About half what I paid for the 3200rpm Delta fans I have on my TR. Might just pick up a couple of the 3000rpm ones for case fans. Put them on a fan controller and crank them up when a little extra airflow is wanted.

I would love to know the answer to that too but I think the only person that could tell us is Vapor

*starts up the Vapor signal which looks kind of like the Bat signal but is the outline of a fan*

The 120MM fan I'm using now has it's on rheostat. I won't be able to use it with the incoming fan. Anyone know of a fan controller that has 5V, 7V, 9V and 12V options for the fans? I know there are ones with knobs but I am looking for those specific settings.

Looks alright, I wonder if there is a way to turn down (mostly off) the display panel. I don't mind modding a fan the old fashioned way (wire cutters) but if I'm not happy with the noise/performance I have to mod it again. Every fan in my tower is 5V with the exception of my blow hole fan (7V) and CPU fan (around 9V it's at 1800RPM). I'll look around and see if I can find a review. Hell I'd be happy with a 5.25" inch plate that has fan headers and a manual switch that can select 5V, 7V or 12V.

Maybe, maybe not. Could lie about their specs, or just be far off. And price comes into play as well. I think Vapor needs to give these fans a test though to compare them to the others and give us the run-down on them

well he did do a fairly thorough 26 fan review: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=137832

cathar did a nice one aswell http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=150261

I think I will have to try a few of these out to pass judgment... scythe seems to have always over-exaggerate their fan noise ratings in the past

Sorry I don't hit that part of the forums that often. And 86 the fan controller I just found a Zalman Fanmate II if I need to adjust the fan.
