Cant get this damn board stable yet![]()
Anyone got some settings yet?
If dividers is the issue try to flash back to bios 0401. Tried 4x1024, only 1M though.

I shall get a 2nd bord and try it!
On the top of the IHM there is a sticky sheet which is rock hard and stuck to the IHS really really well! Cover the full size of the IHS
Inside the IHS again same thing but only covers the X38 DIE
The IHS aint glue, more it bonned with it i think.
If you's lifting the stock off do it from the RAM side then the back!
What is everyone using for Voltage settings in regards to NB and FSB? I have GTL's set to .63x on CPU and AUTO for NB because I didnt know which to set for NB....
The wonders os the vmod!![]()
Asus P6T Dlx

Gskill Falcon 64GB
im have the following if i remember correctly next time i restart ill let you know for sure
cpu 1.54
nb 1.5
sb 1.75
ram set 2.2
just a quick update as well i flashed to the 504 bios and had to back down my ram to 900 mhz because it wouldnt let me boot with 1066...i had to keep flashed 504 because of errors with my graphics card drivers and with 401 my computer wouldnt run videos or games...but with my ram set where its at im cool with what im running now just waiting for another bios update to see if i can get my ram running @ 1066 again...other than that this board is rock solid much more solid than my damn 680i!!
is there a pencil vmod we can do? for vdroop?
GAR: You downed the Gigabyte X38 board, and switched to the Asus, now show us what improvements you got. Show us some stable overclocked screen shots, and I mean stable! Not some 1 or 2 min orthos run, how about an 8-hour run!

Appreciate it's still relatively early days, but what's the general opinion ??
Clearly a decent bios will help, hopefully including a fix for the Loadline Calibration.
The PSU issue of Clunk's, is also odd (see Continued..... section , although like he says, similar to issues seen originally with the commando.
You reckon it's the makings of a winner of the magnitude of the p5k or p5b deluxe, or something a bit less![]()

Man I cannot believe the vdroop this board has. Set to 1.56** in bios, under load its at 1.456![]()
Board still has problems running CAS5 266 with the Ballistix. Using the stock 0401 bios. Had to drop down to 2gigs of my Ballistix just to get Vista installed without BSOD of final installation. Not very happy with this board to say the least. The X38-DQ6 was much easier to run, with less problems it seemed. Think I am going to go back to my DFI UT-P35 T2R...
Vista has issues being installed with 4gb's of ram, you need to install with 2gb's, install the hotfix and put the other 2 gigs in......the gigabyte also has issues running 4 sticks of ram, seems the x38 doesnt like 4 gigs of ram, i got BSOD's with 4 sticks of ram, even on stock settings.......gigabyte board sucked for me, vdroop was horrible, vcore was horrible, trying to get 1.55 volts i had to squeeze to 1.65 in bios, wich gave me 1.62 at load, no way to get 1.57 volts with that board, overall i was very unhappy with the gigabyte board, i sold my 4 sticks of d9gmh and got the new g.skill 2x2gb ddr1000

Anyone been doing some work with RAM subtimings? I will have some results up soon.
No real tweaking done on this....
EDIT:
Heres some tweaking of subtimings as well....

I have a big problem passing 580mhz FSB... What ever I do, I can get past it, doenst matter what multi ect.
This board has a lot of potential, but why do I alway get a board wich just cant pass 600mhz fsb
This was FSB testing only! Spi can be much faster with some tweaking.
Ik looks like the board cant hold load @ + 575 fsb, I get 580mhz fsb on multi 6,7 and 8...
Have a nice day![]()

Perhaps CPU FSB wall?
Try raising Pll volts.

I've tried Vpll from 1,8v to 2,3v @ bios set. I don't think is the cpu, A website in holland has send out 10 of these boards for a overclocking contest, sofar everyone is strugelling to get over 570 - 580 mhz fsb. Only Rol-co had 600mhz validated, but also his board can hold load like spi 1M.
I think this is the same for cornerjack, ho is running in cascade now.

And how 'bout some more xtreme cooling solution on the NB?
This might net you some hard needed MHz.

I will try... Rol-co has chilled water on the NB btw. I have normal watercooling on the NB with asetek chipset block. Temp of the NB never raises above 30*C.
